UFC 131 Odds and Predictions – Bet UFC 131

The UFC is back in Canada today for UFC 131, which is taking place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The main card has seen a lot of changes leading up to the fights, so it should be interesting to see how things go. Lesnar and Danzig both got injured leading up to their fights and won’t be making an appearance in the cage at UFC 131 now. There are tons of fights tonight including a full Facebook card, Spike TV card and pay-per-view card.  Below are UFC 131 odds and my predictions for the bouts.

UFC 131 Main Event Odds & Predictions

• Junior Dos Santos -165 odds
• Shane Carwin +145 odds

Junior Dos Santos and Shane Carwin both have 12-1 MMA records, but that’s going to change tonight. Lesnar was supposed to be fighting Dos Santos, but Carwin had to fill-in due to an injury suffered by Brock. Carwin lost his most recent bout against Brock because he exerted all of his energy in the 1st round and had nothing left in the tank. Carwin isn’t able to go deep into fights because of his fighting style and less than stellar cardio. I like Dos Santos to lock up a submission in the 2nd round just like Brock did to Carwin not too long ago.

UFC 131 Main Card Odds & Predictions

• Jon Olav Einemo +165 odds
• Dave Herman -190 odds

Dave Herman and Jon Olav Einemo will be making their UFC debuts tonight at UFC 131. Einemo hasn’t fought in the USA under a professional MMA promotion since 2006, but he did fight one international fight, which he won. I still don’t see how Einemo is going to be ready for this fight without having any rust from being out of the cage so long. Herman is not an easy customer either and he’ll be looking to start his UFC career on the right foot. Herman has lots of experience, plenty of knockout power and I see this fight ending early and brutally. The fight could be a candidate for KOTN if Herman has his way with Einemo.

• Vagner Rocha +325 odds
• Donald Cerrone -400 odds

Two submission specialists will battle each other in this fight at UFC 131 and I’m taking the huge underdog. I don’t think Cerrone is going to be able to absolutely destroy Rocha and that’s what the odds are saying will happen. Cerrone is great at submissions, but Rocha isn’t that bad either and if Cerrone makes a mistake I could see Rocha slipping in a submission. Cerrone has a big edge standing up in my opinion, but Rocha just needs to try and take the fight to the ground right away and stay right on top of Cerrone if he can.

• Mark Munoz -110 odds
• Demian Maia -110 odds

This should be the 2nd best fight on the main card and both fighters should be ready for war. The winner will move up the ladder in the middleweight division and start receiving tougher fights. In recent fights I’ve been more impressed with Munoz than Maia and I think he’ll win this fight. Munoz just knocked out C.B. Dalloway in under a minute in his last fight, while Maia has been having trouble finishing his opponents as of late. Maia will need to submit Munoz in order to win this fight, but Munoz has great wrestling and it won’t be easy to take him down. If the fight stays standing up Munoz has a clear advantage and should be able to finish the fight.

• Kenny Florian -280 odds
• Diego Nunes +240 odds

Kenny Florian has moved into the new UFC featherweight division and he’s looking to get a title shot as soon as possible, which means he needs to beat the 16-1 Nunes. Kenny should be able to control this fight on the ground and standing up, so I don’t see how he’s going to lose unless he isn’t focused. Florian will have some tough competition in the featherweight division including the champion Jose Aldo, but I don’t think Diego will prove to be much of a problem for Florian tonight.
