The UFC is making a stop tonight in Killeen, Texas to put on a show for the Fort Hood Military Base. This is the second time that the UFC has hosted the Fight for the Troops event and the money raised during the event goes to a great cause. If you’re looking for some betting action tonight while you watch the UFC fights on Spike TV you should check out our picks (listed with odds) below.
UFC Fight For the Troops Odds and Picks
Evan Dunham –260 vs. Melvin Guillard +200
Evan Dunham and Melvin Guillard are the two fighters in the main event tonight. Dunham has been made a clear favorite and should win the fight tonight, but there are a lot of people taking Guillard to pull off the upset. Guillard has a lot more experience, but the younger Dunham has shown that he’s a better fighter. Evan would be wise to take the fight to the ground as early as he can tonight, as Guillard has struggled on the ground while Dunham has proven he has a strong ground game. One thing that Dunham has to watch out for is allowing the fight to go to the judge’s scorecard since he hasn’t fared well in this department.
Matt Mitrione –270 vs. Tim Hague +210
One of the other headline fights tonight is Matt Mitrione against Tim Hague. Hague has already fought in the UFC on two occasions and this is now his 3rd time back in the UFC. Mitrione is currently 3-0 in the UFC and for those of you that don’t know, Matt is also an ex-football player. Not many ex-athletes would make a great UFC fighter, but Mitrione has already beat several guys including Kimbo Slice. Not many people are giving Hague a shot in this fight and I’m not either. Mitrione should win by knockout or decision and continue moving up the heavyweight ladder in the UFC.
Mark Hominick -260 vs. George Roop +215
These two fighters both love to strike and we should see a lot of that tonight. Dana White announced that if Hominick wins the fight tonight he’d get a title shot against Jose Aldo. Roop has good power and has the potential to knockout Hominick tonight, but Mark has a lot better footwork then anyone George has fought against. In order for Mark to win this fight he’ll need to set the tone and fight at his speed. With the extra motivation and the fact that Mark is a superior fighter in this match-up, I’ll once again be riding with the favorite.
I don’t really like taking three favorites when I’m betting on the UFC, but that’s the case tonight. My biggest worry is the main event between Dunham and Guillard because that one could go either way depending on several factors. The other two fights I’m confident with and think they should definitely come through tonight at the Fight for the Troops 2 Event at Fort Hood.
