Bulls vs Cavaliers Game Six Pick – NBA Playoffs

Another night of NBA Playoff action, another buzzer-beating thriller. Paul Pierce was at it again, nailing an enormous go-ahead three pointer in the final seconds, only this time it was Al Horford who “called game”, one-upping The Truth’s second bid at heroics with a last-second bucket of his own to propel the Hawks to a 3-2 series lead and just a single step away from a watershed moment for the long-mediocre franchise.

Every series is 3-2 heading into Game Six (though, duh, they couldn’t be anything else) and three of the four series will feature the favorite trying to finish the series on the road. The Clippers will be at home tonight, so technically they are the underdog by seed, though most would have considered them the favorite from the outset, and even more so now that CP3 appears healthy.

Speaking of “healthy”, it has been a relative term for nearly every point guard still limping through the playoffs, but John Wall’s return caught me off guard, as he was described as “not playing” in the morning at the time of publishing, then revised to “questionable” later in the day, and then, of course, finally playing and playing well. Suffice it to say I’d have been less comfortable laying seven points with Wall in the lineup, but a loss is a loss, and I’ll own it.

Let’s get back to our winning postseason ways tonight.

Today’s Free Pick:

Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls -2

LeBron was appropriately heroic in Game Five, lifting the Cavs to a desperately-needed win as the Bulls once again played without Pau Gasol. Between Gasol’s absence and Taj Gibson’s ill-timed (and perhaps unwarranted) ejection, the Cavaliers were able to scratch out a narrow win despite a fourth quarter surge from the resilliant Bulls. So with Gibson, and assumedly Pau, back tonight, can the Bulls make one more stand at the United Center?

It’s hard to bet against the Bulls tonight. They’ve outplayed Cleveland much of this series and they should finally be at full strength tonight. They are the better team on paper, and except for that pesky Lebron factor, have an advantage at nearly every position (especially coach). Expect the Bulls defense to ratchet up tonight. Jimmy Butler and company have been effective on LeBron this series for the most part and especially at the United Center. James is just 18 of 55 shooting there in this series. If he has a similar performance, the score could be fairly lopsided tonight.

This thing is destined for an epic Game Seven. I’ll reserve any judgement on that game until seeing tonight (and assessing everyone’s health, as this series is a MASH unit) But for tonight, give me Chicago playing inspired at home and winning tonight’s game.
