We notched our fourth straight winner (4-0-1 ATS in last five picks) with the Detroit Pistons easily dispatching the Sacramento Kings for their fifth straight win, all since the departure of Josh Smith. Not only are the Pistons winning, they are destroying teams, winning by a comfy 18.2 points per contest. Things will get a little more interesting later this week when they take on a little stiffer competition with a back to back in San Antonio and Dallas and a visit from Atlanta, but no matter what happens, this team has made a remarkable return to respectability overnight.

We will try to keep the good times rolling in 2015 with a pair of picks tonight.
Today’s Free Picks:
Cleveland Cavaliers -4 at Philadelphia 76’ers
I know. I know. The 76’ers haven’t won a single game at home this season. Not a single game. That’s staggering considering we are knocking on the halfway point of the season. However, this Cleveland unit rolling into Phily tonight is bordering on dumpster-fire territory. No LeBron. No Kyrie. And let’s be honest, this ain’t the San Antonio Spurs reserve corps coming to the rescue.
And there’s still the nagging problem that Cleveland doesn’t guard anyone.
The Sixers aren’t good. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying this is a good team. But getting nine at home against a team with none of their players? Look at the respective lineups tonight and tell me that Cleveland would be a four point favorite in Rupp Arena tonight. Yes, Kevin Love is on the floor, but that’s about it. MCW vs. Delevadova? Edge Philly. Dion Waiters vs. KJ McDaniels? Push or slight slight edge Dion. Cleveland has the better frontcourt with Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love and the expiring corpse of Mike Miller, but defensively this team is a wreck.
I like Philly to smell blood in the water and to gain confidence from easier shots than they are accustomed to seeing. I might be crazy, but I have no faith in Cleveland right now. It’s a team not getting along and they are nearly a one-man band tonight. How many road games did Kevin Love win in Minnesota and this roster tonight is equally as bad if not worse than the past few Timberpups.
Give me Philly and the points. Feel free to troll away if I miss, but I’m gonna have some stones tonight and trust the numbers. Cleveland is a wreck and missing their two best players.
Bonus Pick: Indiana Pacers at Utah Jazz -2
The Pacers lost a heart-breaker last night to the Los Angeles Kobe’s after the ageless Bryant stuck two daggers in their chests in the final minute. Tonight, the Pacers have a second straight road game out West. Utah is a more talented team and playing at home with more rest.
This one feels like a no-brainer. The Jazz have won 6 of 10 despite playing seven of those games on the road. They’ve knocked off Memphis and Miami and played tough games against Atlanta and the Clippers. This is a decent ballclub that is getting better. The Pacers have been getting by with grit and effort but tonight there is the fatigue factor which generally saps those two qualities.
Take the Jazz and swallow the miniscule two points.
