Milwaukee returns home for the second game of a home-road back-to-back after losing to the Dallas Mavericks, 116-101, as it was the Bucks’ third straight game without Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee is 4-3 on the second game of back-to-backs, one fo just seven teams with a winning record.
The Bucks have lost two in a row and five of eight, but four of those are without Antetokounmpo being available due to injury.
Charlotte continues without LaMelo Ball and the often-injured Gordon Hayward. The Hornets are 3-3 over their last six after a three game winning streak place them firmly into the Eastern Conference playoff structure. This is the last game of a six-game road trip as the Hornets are 3-2 on the roadie.
Milwaukee is still the 3-seed in the East Conference while Charlotte is tied with Atlanta and Miami for the 4-seed.
Charlotte defeated Milwaukee, 126-114, on Jan. 30, in Charlotte. The Hornets made 21 three-pointers while Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points and grabbed 18 boards.

Donte DiVincenzo scored 22 and Bobby Portis had 20 points and 14 rebounds but Milwaukee fell in Dallas, 116-103, on Thursday. Shooters Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday were a combined 12-of-43 from the floor with 27 points as Giannis Antetokounmpo was shelved for the third consecutive game with left knee soreness.

The Hornets are a young team with different players stepping up and making a difference in a game as rookie Jalen McDaniels did last night. Terry Rozier continues to be a solid catalyst for Charlotte as he is averaging a career high 20.3 points while shooting 40.5 percent from three with a career high 3.3 made threes per game. Charlotte’s three-point game continues to get better as it is at 37.9 percent (8th/NBA) as Devonte’ Graham (118 3s) joins Rozier (158 3s) as the top-three ball threats with
Key Hornets Stat:
The Hornets’ defense has to continue to improve in order for this team to nail down a solid seed in the playoffs and have a chance to advance. Charlotte had 12 steals last night against OKC which is the third game with 10 or more thefts in the last five outings. They are averaging 9.6 steals and 16.6 deflections in their last five games.
Ball, Hayward and Malik Monk are three of the next four leading scorers behind Rozier, who has continued to flourish in averaging 3.5 points per game in 19 games with clutch situations, per NBA analytics. He has 0.6 triples in those situations, second among players who have played in 70% of those situations.
Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday will likely bounce back after such a tough evening in Dallas Thursday. This will be needed with Giannis likely missing his fourth game in a row. Middleton is Milwaukee’s second leading scorer (20.3 ppg) while making 43.4 precent of his threes. Holiday checks in as the third leading scorer (17.3 ppg) as he and Middleton are the top two Bucks’ playmakers with 5.4 assists per game.

Getting help from DiViencenzo was key Thursday as he had a career high six threes as his 22 points was the second highest scoring game in his young career. He has had a break out season as well in averaging 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists as he makes 39.1 percent of his threes.
Bobby Portis (11.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg), who is playing for his fourth team in as many years, has become a key contributor in the paint as he has made 53.5 percent of his shots in giving Milwaukee another solid option. He has averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds in these last three games with Giannis out of the line up.
