Chicago Bulls vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Pick – NBA April 10, 2022

The Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves meet on the floor at the Target Center on Sunday night. This is the final day of regular season action in the NBA. The play-in playoffs begin on Tuesday.

These are mostly games that don’t mean anything on the schedule Sunday, but some seeding has yet to be solidified. The Bulls have no room to go up or down, as they’re locked into the sixth seed.

Their record of 45-36 was enough to avoid the play-in, as the Bulls have a two-game advantage on the Brooklyn Nets.

This was projected to be a promising season for the Nets, but they will have to get into the playoffs the official playoffs the hard way through the play-in.

The Bulls have tripped down the stretch, with four straight losses going into this one. They’re losers in 10 of their last 14 games heading into the season finale.

This matchup doesn’t mean anything in the standings, but it would be nice for the Bulls to play well instead of on a five-game skid. A win on Sunday might propel the Bulls into the playoffs.

The Timberwolves were the first team out of the Western Conference playoffs. They are going to the play-in, though, and considering where this team was the past several years, this is a success.

Minnesota enters at 46-35 and is locked into the play-in against the LA Clippers. They will tip off Tuesday at the Target Center.

Bulls vs. Timberwolves Prediction:

This can always be a tricky spot to handicap on the final day of the regular season. It’s not a time to empty the bankroll, but there are still spots that could be good for a unit wager.

Note that the Bulls are handing this game off to their bench on Sunday night. Despite grinding to a halt and a chance to get on track, the Bulls will rest starters in Minnesota.

I’m not confident it is a good thing for the defense, which has been struggling in Chicago. They lose defense, notably with Nikola Vucevic sitting on the bench.

The Bulls have been getting drilled defensively, with at least 117 points allowed in five straight games and 127 points given up in four of their last five.

The Bulls have conceded 126.8 points a game and a 53.1% field goal percentage going into the season finale. I’m not sure the young guys and reserves are looking to play defense tonight.

Typically this results in guys wanting to score to look good on the stat sheet. They should do it against a Timberwolves team that doesn’t opt for much defense.

The T-Wolves have allowed 128 points a game and a 52.7% field goal percentage through their last five outings. Overall, Minnesota is 24th in the NBA with 113.2 points against per game.

Chicago Bulls vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Trends:

  • 5-16 ATS in their previous 21 games
  • 2-10 ATS in their previous 12 games on one-day rest
  • OVER is 6-1 in their previous seven games after a double-digit loss at home
  • OVER is 4-0 in their previous four games versus a team with a winning record
  • OVER is 4-1 in their previous five games
  • 1-5 ATS in their previous six games
  • 13-5-1 ATS in their previous 19 games at home
  • OVER is 8-2 in their previous ten games on a two-day rest
  • OVER is 7-1 in their previous eight games on a Sunday
  • OVER is 40-18 in their previous 58 games

The Timberwolves are expected to rest Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell, but should still operate efficiently versus a Chicago team down several starters.

They lead the NBA with 115.9 points per game and put in work recently with 123.6 points per game over their previous five attempts. Expect the Timberwolves to run in a carefree game on Sunday night.

Don’t expect the most defense in a game that doesn’t mean anything towards the playoffs. The intensity probably isn’t going to be there at the Target Center. This should lead to a high-scoring final score in Minnesota.
