We kept the insane NBA beat thumping last night, notching a fifth straight winner and 14th over my last 16 picks (9-1 ATS in last ten). I don’t think anyone has any realistic expectations of consistently maintaining that clip all season long, but it is nice to strike while the iron is hot and keep stacking up some winners.
Last night it was the Magic continuing their surprising playoff-quality play, notching a fairly comfortable victory at home over the Brooklyn. The Magic have moved to 15-11 on the season and, while two games can see you move from third to tenth (ask Boston) in the uber-fluid Eastern Conference, for now the Magic check in at a delirious 7th place, just a game out of third…
Meanwhile, so much for the revenge sword cleanly lopping off the Milwaukee Bucks collective heads last night, huh? For all the brashness and vitriol, the Bucks damn-near consolidated the break, leading Golden State all night long until a fourth quarter run (and most of it late, Milwaukee led by 11 with eight minutes to play) finally overtook the Deer and thus righted the universe with a 121-112 victory.
Let’s keep that just universe principle in action by notching yet another NBA winner.

Today’s Free Pick:
Los Angeles Clippers at Houston Rockets -1
This is a battle of which team we like less, the disappointing Clippers or the monumentally disappointing Rockets? Both have laid big fat eggs so far in 2015 (had the under on both in the preview, ehm) and neither looks like even remote contenders to the Spurs or Warriors in the West despite being two of the top teams in the league in 2014-2015. However, things are at least looking up a little bit in Houston.
The Rockets are back to one game under.500 after a 6-3 run. The two back to back road losses on consecutive nights in Sacramento and Denver were horrible, but at least the bounced back to close the road trip with a win Los Angeles (Lakers, not Clippers) and finally had a night to rest back home.
Let’s be honest. There’s not much to like about Houston. But there’s more to DISlike about LAC tonight. Namely, that they just played last night on the road in a tight game against San Antonio. Back to back games are rarely a recipe for success in the NBA, especially when then finale comes on the road. I am making this a strictly scheduling wager. The Rockets stink. I hate betting on the Rockets. But I love betting on home teams playing a road foe on the back end of a back to back when I don’t have to give away points.
Ergo, Rockets are the play tonight. This one is strictly on analytics and schedule, but those principles have gotten me to 14-2 ATS over the last three weeks, so I’m not turning my back now…
