Dallas Mavericks vs Memphis Grizzlies NBA Pick – November 19th

The NBA is host to nine games on Monday night. One of those games will be against two red-hot teams in the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies. Both teams have been strong in their recent games and will look to keep their winning streaks alive on November 19. I anticipate a really good game between these two teams.

Dallas has started out the season with a 7-8 record. The Mavericks are sitting in thirteenth place of the Western Conference. Dallas has been on the rise recently though. The Mavericks have won four straight games and five of their last six. Dallas can get back to an even record with a win on Monday night.

The Grizzlies have gone 10-5 to start out the new season. Memphis is tied for third place in the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder. Memphis is on a three-game winning streak. The Grizzlies played a game on Sunday, which could lead to a little fatigue on Monday night.

Dallas and Memphis meet for the first time on Monday night. The Mavericks and Grizzlies will meet three more times on March 2, April 5 and April 7 after Monday night’s matchup. These two teams will see each other a lot more in the latter half of the season. I expect both teams to try and get a feel for each other on Monday night.

Last Season’s Matchups

The Mavericks and Grizzlies met a total of four times last season. The first game of the season was held in Dallas. Marc Gasol and Mike Conley combined for 47 points for the Grizzlies, but they did not get much help from the rest of the lineup. Dennis Smith scored 19 points, while Wesley Matthews added 16. Dallas was able to get nice balanced scoring to get the 103-94 win.

The second game of the season shifted to Memphis. Harrison Barnes led the Mavericks in scoring with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mike Conley and Marc Gasol combined for 47 points. Tyreke Evans added another 19 points off the bench for the Grizzlies. Memphis was able to pull off the 96-91 home win.

Memphis also hosted the third game of last season’s series. Tyreke Evans led the Grizzlies in points with 18. Harrison Barnes dropped 22 points and 9 rebounds on the Grizzlies. Dennis Smith dropped another 17 as the Mavericks pulled off a 95-94 win on the road.

The Mavericks hosted the final game of the season against the Grizzlies. Memphis was led by Dillon Brooks, who dropped 17 points. Harrison Barnes had 25 points for Dallas. J.J. Barea and Doug McDermott each had 20 points in route another win against the Grizzlies. The Mavericks finished with a 114-80 win in the final game of the season series.

Both of these teams finished near the bottom of the NBA last season, but the Mavericks were able to take the season series 3-1. Both teams come into Monday night’s matchup playing really well. I expect a close game between these two teams, but this time it could matter more than just draft lottery odds.

The Mavericks have been able to avoid too many injuries this season. Dallas is without Dirk Nowitzki still, but it is believed that he could be back by the end of the month. Nowitzki would be a huge player to get back, only on the court, but as a mentor in the locker room. The Mavericks could also be without Wesley Matthews for their matchup against the Grizzlies.

Memphis has been missing some depth players due to injury throughout the season. The Grizzlies will be without Dillon Brooks, JaMychal Green and Chandler Parsons. Memphis will be without these players for at least a few more weeks.

Top Performers

The Mavericks have been led by their rookie Luka Doncic. Doncic has averaged 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Dennis Smith has been solid from the other guard spot. He has averaged 14.5 points per game. Harrison Barnes has dropped an average of 16.5 points per game. DeAndre Jordan has been dropping 10.8 points and 13.2 rebounds per game from the Center spot this season.

Mike Conley has averaged 19.1 points per game and 5.1 assists this season. The Grizzlies rookie Jaren Jackson has had a really solid season, averaging 12.7 points per game. Marc Gasol has averaged 16.1 points and 9 rebounds per game. Shelvin Mack has been helping the Grizzlies win off the bench. He has been averaging 11.4 points and 3.9 assists per game.

This game will bring up quite a few exciting matchups. The young duo of Doncic and Smith will have to face a more experienced Guard pairing of Conley and Garrett Temple. These two could shut down the younger duo. Marc Gasol matching up against DeAndre Jordan should be a real tough battle in the paint.

Pick Overview

Dallas has been really solid as of recently and I believe that they can compete with the Grizzlies on Monday night. Memphis has been playing extremely well recently, but are coming off a game in Minnesota on Sunday night. I believe that they could be a little tired, which could make them come out a little slow.

BetOnline has Memphis listed as a 3.5 point favorite. The Grizzlies have been doing really well and I believe that they deserve this line. The Mavericks are on a really solid winning streak, but I believe it will end on the road in Memphis. The Grizzlies are playing great right now and I believe they will ride the home crowd to a win.
