Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Game 7 Pick – NBA May 15, 2022

The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns are in the desert at the Footprint Center for Game 7. The Mavericks are coming off a must-win situation in Texas at the American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks left no doubt who the better team was that night. They won and drew off for a 113-86 win in a blowout. This was after a blowout in the opposite direction.

In Game 5, the Mavericks made it look easy with a 110-80 victory. In three wins this series, the Suns have won by an average of 19 points a game.

It’s been feast or famine in this series. In the Suns’ closest win, they had a 121-114 victory in Game 1. Back at home in Pheonix, we’ll see if the Suns can find that same form in Game 7.

This is a game for the big players on the floor to step up and take over. The Suns have more wiggle room in this regard. For the Mavs, they need Luka Doncic to go off tonight.

In Game 6, it was the Doncic show, as he scored 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in the win. The Suns’ leading scorer was Ayton with 21 points, so it was a disappointing effort for the team.

As far as the Suns are concerned, it could be Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, or all three that come through in Game 7. Of course, they could all have a cold night as well.

The Suns have been on and off this series; which team will show up at home for Game 7 tonight? Head below for our free Mavericks vs. Suns Game 7 pick on May 15, 2022.

Mavericks vs. Suns Game 7 Prediction:

Phoenix finished with the best record in the NBA this season. They cleared easily over Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Grizzlies. The Suns deserved the best record because of their effort in the regular season.

It would all be for nothing if the Suns can’t win tonight, though.

The Suns are first in the NBA with a 48.5% field goal percentage. They scored 114.8 points per game for fifth in the league. What makes the Suns so dangerous is how well-balanced they are on the floor.

The Suns don’t have to rely on their offense to win games. Nor do they need to rely exclusively on their defense. However, the Suns do both extremely well.

Phoenix is the third-best defense in the NBA, as they’ve held opponents to a 44.4% field goal percentage. The Suns are tight on the perimeter, with a 34% three-point percentage against.

They’ve been especially tough at home this season. Phoenix has allowed 106.3 points a game and a 43.8% field goal percentage at the Footprint Center.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Game 7 Betting Trends:

Mavericks

  • 8-3 ATS in thier previous 11 games
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games after a win
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five game off a two-day break
  • 0-8 overall in their previous eight games at Phoenix
  • 5-10 ATS in their previous 15 games versus the Suns
  • 3-10 ATS in their previous 13 games at Phoenix

Suns

  • 4-0 ATS in their previous four games as a betting favorite at home
  • 5-1 ATS in their previous six games after a loss
  • 11-3 ATS in their previous 14 games in the seminfinals
  • 5-1 ATS in their previous six games at home
  • 12-3 overall in their previous 15 games versus the Mavericks
  • 10-3 ATS in their previous 13 games versus the Macericks at home

The Mavericks need their defense playing well to have success. They don’t have the depth that the Suns’ roster does offensively. It will come down to how well the Mavericks’ defense plays.

Dallas is second in the NBA with 104.7 points allowed per game. However, they don’t have an offense that can keep up with the Suns, at least on paper statistically. The Mavericks are 24th in the league with 108 points per game.

Neutralizing the Mavericks begins with shutting Doncic down, naturally. If that’s taken care of, the Mavs don’t have the talent elsewhere to exploit the Suns on the road.

Phoenix is going to be aggressive in this one on their floor at the Footprint Center. Expect the Mavericks to hang around and be competitive for most of the game, but the Suns grinding away for 4 quarters should be too much.

Look for the Suns to shake free of the Mavericks in the final frame. Look for the Suns to win and cover Game 7 by a score of 115-104 at the Footprint Center on Sunday night.
