Denver Nuggets vs Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Pick – November 21st

The NBA has one busy night set up for November 21, before they take a day off for Thanksgiving break. The NBA has thirteen games on the slate for Wednesday night. One of these games is between two Western Conference teams in the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game will be on at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

The Denver Nuggets had a really strong start to the season. Denver went 9-1 to begin the new season. The Nuggets have struggled since that start, going 1-6. The Nuggets are now sitting in sixth place of the Western Conference. Denver has lost their last two games to the New Orleans Pelicans and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Nuggets will end a three-game road trip against the Timberwolves. I believe Denver could get a solid road win on Wednesday night.

Minnesota has been a mess since the season started. The Timberwolves have gone 7-10 to start out this season, which has them in fourteenth place of the Western Conference. Minnesota has been trying to move on from the Jimmy Butler fiasco. The Timberwolves lost their last game to the Memphis Grizzlies. Minnesota had won three games in a row before that.

These two teams come into Wednesday nights game going in opposite directions. The Nuggets have been struggling since their fast start, while Minnesota is looking to continue to step up their game since finding themselves in a mess early in the season. I believe that this could be a real close matchup on Wednesday night.

Last Season’s Matchups

The Nuggets and Timberwolves met up a total of four times last season. Denver hosted the first matchup of the season series. Jamal Murray put up 30 points and Nikola Jokic put up another 22 points. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler both had 25 point nights in route to their win. The Timberwolves were able to take the game on the road by a score of 112-104.

The second game of the season series was held in Minnesota. The game needed extra time to be decided. Will Barton had a great game off the bench for the Nuggets with 28 points. It was Jimmy Butler that was the deciding factor though as he dropped 39. The Timberwolves won 128-125 in overtime.

Denver hosted the third game of the season series between these two teams. Minnesota was led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who dropped 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jamal Murray scored 22 points for the Nuggets, which was enough to give Denver the edge. The Nuggets were able to win 100-96 in front of their home crowd.

The final matchup of the season series was held in Minnesota. For the second time in the season series, the game had to be decided in overtime. Nikola Jokic scored 35 points and 10 rebounds. Will Barton added another 24 points for the Nuggets, but it was not enough. Jimmy Butler scored 31, while Karl-Anthony Towns had 26 points and 14 rebounds. The Timberwolves were able to win 112-106 in the extra period.

Minnesota took the season series 3-1 last season. These two teams finished the season one game apart in the standings, with the Timberwolves in the playoffs and the Nuggets sitting just outside it. Every game in this season series mattered last season. I believe that Denver will be looking for some revenge on Wednesday night.

The Nuggets have been hit pretty hard with injuries to begin this season. Denver is without Will Barton, Michael Porter, Isaiah Thomas and Jarred Vanderbilt against the Timberwolves. Barton has averaged 16.5 points in his two appearances. The Nuggets could also be missing Torrey Craig on Wednesday night.

Minnesota has avoided the injury bug early this season. The Timberwolves have lost Jerryd Bayless, which does not sting Minnesota’s lineup to badly. Minnesota has a more complete lineup now that Butler is gone and not holding out. The Timberwolves will look to continue playing strong with their new lineup.

Top Performers

The Nuggets have been led by their pair of Guards this season. Jamal Murray has averaged 17.1 points, 4.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game from the Point Guard spot. Gary Harris has put up an average of 17.2 points per game at the Shooting Guard spot. Denver has also had a lot of help from Nikola Jokic at the Center spot. He has averaged 17.8 points, 6.9 assists and 10 rebounds per game.

Minnesota has been led by Karl-Anthony Towns at the Center spot. Towns is averaging 19.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. Derrick Rose has been playing well in the lineup. He is averaging 18.9 points and 4.7 assists per game. Andrew Wiggins has averaged 17.4 points per game.

Jamal Murray and Gary Harris will be difficult to contain in the backcourt against the Timberwolves. The Center spot will have the matchup to watch though. Towns has the advantage in my opinion, but I believe that Jokic could slow him down.

Pick Overview

I expect an exciting matchup between Denver and Minnesota. These two teams played in four close games last season and I would not be surprised if this one comes down to the wire as well. I believe that this game is the perfect matchup for the Nuggets to bounce back in. Minnesota is still adjusting to their new lineup and has not been consistent at all this season.

BetOnline has the Timberwolves listed as a -1 against the spread. Minnesota is at home, which makes it more reasonable for them to be favorites. I still believe that Denver is the better team. The Nuggets have a solid lineup and I believe that they will bounce back with a win on Wednesday night.
