Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors Pick – NBA March 24, 2021

The Denver Nuggets stay in Florida and head to Tampa Bay after a 110-99 win over the Orlando Magic last night. It’s best to use caution betting on teams that have a good chance of executing a trade. The Toronto Raptors are at the top of the trade rumor mill going into Wednesday. Kyle Lowry getting shipped out to Philadelphia or Miami seems like the most likely scenario. Along with Lowry, Norman Powell has been mentioned in numerous trade rumors.

Maybe something happens tomorrow afternoon, or maybe on Thursday before the deadline. The other thing that could happen is the Raptors stay put and don’t pull off a trade. It’s pretty clear that Lowry wants one last sizable contract. The Raptors, who are going into rebuild mode, are unlikely to open the wallet for him. In other words, if they don’t work out a trade, there’s a good chance the Raptors get nothing for Lowry.

The Raptors are trying to use Lowry for a bit of leverage with potential suitors. They’re trying to get just a little bit more in return and likely using the 76ers, Heat, and perhaps another team as bargaining chips. For instance, the rumor floating around is that the Raptors will only swap Lowry with the Heat if Tyler Herro is involved. Would the 76ers be able to match something like that? We’ll see if they’d be willing, but unlikely.

The question when handicapping this game is how the Raptors are going to approach this game. If a deal is reached before tip-off, then they aren’t going to be on the court. However, if a trade is imminent, how much playing time is Lowry and/or Powell going to get? I doubt a lot to avoid the risk of an injury. Could you imagine that if an injury occurs against the Nuggets in a meaningless game tonight?

For the Raptors, they can win this game if Lowry plays and plays with a chip on his shoulder in what could be his final game as a Raptor. It’s also worth noting that the Raptors are looking to stop the bleeding. They’re on a nine-game losing streak and coming off a humiliating loss against the Houston Rockets, 117-99.

The Raptors also lost as favorites against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 116-105. In three of their last four outings, the Raptors failed to win straight up as 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5-point underdogs. Head below for our free Nuggets vs. Raptors pick on March 24, 2021.

Nuggets vs. Raptors Prediction:

The Nuggets took a 30-15 lead at the end of 12 minutes and cruised to a 110-99 win last night. The Magic went on a bit of a run in the third quarter, but the Nuggets pushed back and won fairly comfortably. Nikola Jokic filled the net up with 28 points, while Jamal Murray was in good form as well with 21 points in the winning cause.

The defensive effort of the Nuggets was most impressive last night, though reading too far into a dominant performance on defense against the Magic isn’t advised. The Raptors are 18th in the NBA with 112 points scored per game. They’ve been off the mark with 104.6 points per in their previous five outings, so there isn’t anything positive to speak of for this inconsistent group.

Having said that, I could see the Raptors really coming out and being more aggressive offensively after an embarrassing loss against the Rockets. Even if Lowry is absent from the lineup, I don’t believe the Raptors are going to sit back and allow the game to come to them. Expect the Raptors to come out firing away looking to respond after playing such a lazy game.

The Nuggets are fourth in the NBA with 115.7 points per game, 48.8% from the field, and 38.6% from three, all figures are good for top-5. The defense certainly hasn’t been working for the Raptors recently. They’ve conceded 116.4 points per game in their last five games. Overall, they’re 18th in the league with 112.4 points against per game.

Denver has been on fire from the field as of late, with 118.4 points through their last five outings. The Raptors may not be able to stop the Nuggets’ offense, but I think we see a lot more energy and attacking the rim. If this is Lowry’s final game as a Raptor, don’t expect him to go away quietly, hence why I think we see this trapish kind of line. I could see the final score landing around 228 points. The OVER has gone 12-3-1 in their last 16 meetings, and I could see another tonight.
