SG/SF: Kyle Korver: (4,200) Korver has played heavy minutes these past two games with starting center Dwight Howard out. (back) The Hawks have been playing smaller lineups which has led to Korver playing 35 and 33 minutes in these two games compared to his season average of 28 minutes a game. With the big man already ruled out for tonight, Korver should play 30+ minutes again vs The Nuggets who allow the most DK points to opposing SGs this season. Korver’s fantasy value is mostly based off his scoring and specifically his outside shooting.
This is a perfect spot for him to produce tonight vs this Nuggets team that has been terrible defending shooters lately allowing 12.7 three pointers made on a high 45.2% over their last three games. Even though Korver is already seeing a ton of playing time he could be in line for even a few extra minutes if SG Tim Hardaway Jr. is out. (questionable, groin) Korver right now looks like the one of the best values at the position at $4,200 and I am comfortable with him in all formats on Friday night.
PG: Rajon Rondo: (6,000) Rondo has been one of the most unpredictable fantasy players of this season. He is either posting a near triple double or riding the bench in a blowout loss. But tonight I think he has a shot to put up some numbers in a competitive game vs The Hornets with a tight spread of 4.5 points. The Hornets overall are a strong defense vs PGs ranking 6th vs the position, but they allow the fourth most assists a game to opposing teams and have an opponent +/- of 2.78 vs starting PGs this season.
If this game stays competitive and Rondo plays over 30 minutes, he should be able to score 30 DK points with upside tonight. He has a low floor and, by no means, is a cash a game target, but I think he is worth a shot in GPPs with an expected low ownership of 2-4% according to Fantasy Labs.
PG: Ty Lawson: (3,800) With The Kings dealing with a bunch of injuries lately, Lawson has seen an increase of playing time averaging 27.5 minutes in his last two games. He has been playing more than starting PG Darren Collison who has only played 22 and 21 minutes in these games. In this span, Lawson has been looked great off the bench averaging 31 DK points with a 22.7% usage rate (5.1% increase) and a team high assist percentage of 29%. Tonight with Rudy Gay already ruled out (hip) and Omri Cassipi questionable (illness), Lawson should will likely play 25+ minutes again off the bench in an elite matchup vs The Wolves who allow the most DK points to PGs this year.
With The Kings winning these past two games and remaining thin with key players out, its hard to imagine Lawson not playing over 25 minutes again tonight. He has also received great praise from his Head Coach after these past two performance. “Generally, backups will play 16 to 18 minutes,” Joerger said. “I think he’s way better than that … I want him to know I have the faith in him to play him longer minutes” VIA the SacBee.com. With his new increased role off the bench he should have no problem returning value at his cheap $3,800 price tag and is sneaky value play for this 14 game slate.
Also Consider: Patty Mills, Jodie Meeks (expected to start for Fournier), Ricky Rubio, Dwayne Dedmon, Luol Deng, D’angelo Russell (sees a nice bump in usage with Randle out, played 32 minutes last night), Jeremy Lin, Thomas Robinson, David Lee, Tomofey Mozgov, Tyler Johnson (Ellington, McGruder, and Waiters all still out), Garrett Temple (if starting), Marresse Speights, Montrezl Harrell, Austin Rivers (great value if Chris Paul is out), Mike Muscala, Seth Curry, James Johnson, Kent Bazemore (boost if Hardaway Jr. is out), Eric Gordon, Kenneth Faried, and Elfrid Payton (boost if Fournier is out).
