Golden State Warriors vs. Indiana Pacers Pick – NBA December 13, 2021

The Golden State Warriors stay on the road following a trip to Philadelphia for a 102-93 loss versus the 76ers. It was their first of five games on this road trip. In their second stop, the Warriors are in Indiana for a clash with the Pacers on Monday night.

The loss in Philadelphia was only their fifth this season. The Warriors are going into tonight with a record of 21-5. That’s amazing and all, but there isn’t going to be much room for error in the Western Conference. That fantastic record of 21-5 isn’t even enough to lead the conference.

The Suns are up on the Warriors by a half game with a record of 21-4. Then the Warriors have to be watchful of the Utah Jazz who have gotten hot recently. The Jazz are playing good basketball and going into this week with a record of 19-7 and 2.5 games behind the Suns.

Utah has won seven straight games and are feeling much more confident than earlier in the season. With that in mind, as good as the Warriors have played this season, they can’t slip up too much if the Dubs want the first seed in the playoffs.

Over in the Eastern Conference, Golden State would be more than fine, as the 19-8 Brooklyn Nets lead the 18-10 Milwaukee Bucks. The Warriors just have to worry about themselves, and they know there’s a special player in Klay Thompson nearing a return.

The latest word on Thompson is that he is on a good track to make a return to the floor. He is scheduled back around Christmas. Thompson has been practicing with the G League team in anticipation of getting the greenlight. It’s great news for a Warriors team that is already very good to begin with.

The Pacers are coming off a 106-93 win over the Dallas Mavericks. It’s their third straight win which also includes a 116-110 win over the Wizards and Knicks, 112-102. The Pacers are feeling confident, but they’ve been up and down this season. They were on a four-game skid before three wins to get to 12-16.

Warriors vs. Pacers Prediction:

The Warriors will look to avoid their first back-to-back losses of the season in Indiana tonight. They lost to the Suns on November 30, responded with a 118-96 win a few days later at home, and then lost the next day to the Spurs, 112-107.

However, the Warriors have never lost back-to-back games this season. After losing to the Spurs, Golden State came out firing with a 126-95 win against the Magic. They had no problems clearing the Trail Blazers in their next outing, 104-94.

The Warriors are third in the NBA with 112.5 points per game and a 47% field goal percentage. They can shoot, and their ability to pick up second chance points is strong as well. Golden State is third in the league in offensive rebounding and second in defensive rebounding.

Their defense rates the best in the NBA going into tonight. They are close to holding teams to an average of less than 100 points per game. They are first with 100.4 points allowed per game, and holding teams to a 42.5% field goal percentage.

Even from the perimeter, opponents have struggled against the Warriors. Golden State has played tight defense, holding teams to just a 32.3% three-point percentage. Following a loss, expect the Warriors’ defense to tighten up.

Golden State Warriors vs. Indiana Pacers Betting Trends:

  • 10-1 ATS in their previous 11 games after a loss
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games after failing to cover the spread
  • 10-3-1 ATS in their previous 14 games on one-day rest
  • 20-7-1 ATS in their previous 28 games as a favorite
  • 7-3-1 ATS in their previous 11 games versus a team with a losing record

  • 1-7-1 ATS in their previous nine games on two-day rest
  • 3-9-2 ATS in their previous 14 games on a Monday
  • 13-6-1 ATS in their previous 20 games in Indiana
  • 12-4 ATS in their previous 16 games as an underdog
  • OVER is 7-1 in their previous eight games in Indiana

Indiana has been average on both sides of the floor. They have scored 108.1 points per game for 15th in the NBA. The one problem for the Pacers in this one could be attempting to keep up with Golden State from three.

If the Pacers need quick points from deep, I’m not confident in them having success. The Pacers are 24th in the NBA from three with a conversion rate of 33%. Indiana’s defense can be scored on, as they’ve conceded 106.1 points per game, with teams shooting a solid 45.3%.

When the Pacers need a flurry of big shots to keep pace, it’s likely not going to be there. Off a loss the Warriors have to be worth considering on Monday night.

In what might be a close game for three quarters, expect Golden State to pull away in the final quarter for a 113-104 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse tonight.
