We won with ease last night as the massive underdog Suns (+13) won straight up IN Houston, basically driving the final dagger to the Houston playoff heart. Of course, that is a terrible analogy, because as we all know, Houston HAS NO HEART.
Gutless. Heartless. Indifferent. Petulant. Whinny. There’s a lot of one-word working titles for the 2015-2016 Rockets season, but my official nomination would be “Defenseless!” because of the lovely double entendre of both the absence of a defense for such poor season results and the more tangible literal lack of defense on the court. What a dismal season and a failed experiment in Houston. But at last they fired Kevin McHale early in the year to salvage things… oh wait….
In more important news, the Warriors handled their business at home with relative ease against the Spurs, who did play for real, and yet came up well short. It will be interesting to see if the “home team win with comfort” trend continues in their final meeting and if the Spurs can (and will try to) deny the Warriors a place in history.
Let’s see if we can run up another winner tonight.

Today’s Free Pick:
Miami Heat at Orlando Magic -1.5
It tells a lot about the way the Magic have competed down the stretch that they are favored in tonight’s basketball game. Sure, they are at home. And yes, the Heat are on the back-end of a back to back, but they are a playoff team fighting for positioning and expected to have their roster at full complement for tonight’s important contest.
So why are the Magic favored? Perhaps it is because they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games while Miami is 1-5 ATS on the road? All I know, is that no matter what the last two weeks tell me, the last FOUR YEARS tell me Miami OWNS Orlando. They have won 14 of the last 15 matchups head to head. They have covered five of the last six times they have played in Orlando and won the last five straight up as well. This is simply a matchup issue and one Miami has dominated without err.
The Heat are 0-3 ATS on the back end of road back to backs, but I’ll take the motivation and matchup edge over some recent bobbles.
If the Magic were getting four or five, I might feel differently about the value, but if I can get the Heat and a point or two, it seems too good to pass up.
I’ll take the heat to continue their half-decade of consistent interstate dominance.
