Heat vs. Sixers Pick NBA – November 21st

The Denver Nuggets took care of the Jazz at home in relatively  easy fashion and nabbed us a nice slump-busting win to keep the season ATS tally above 60% for the season.  For the Jazz, there wasn’t a lot of chance of winning that game; undermanned, on the road, tired legs.   It is still too early to give up on this team finally breaking through to the playoffs, but it does feel a lot like the story that has played the past two seasons – talented, young team (now more veteran in 2017) that just can’t all get healthy at the same time.

It was an interesting night for a pair of middle of the pack teams in the East.  Both Chicago and Indy went out West and got road wins over team in playoff position.  What made it REALLY interesting, is that Indy was without Paul George for the OT win at Oklahoma City, and Chicago had Dwyane Wade resting in street clothes.  Obviously, neither team is better without their star, but for one night, all was just fine.

Today’s Free Pick:

Miami Heat -4.5 at Philadelphia 76’ers (Total: 198)

Who wants the #1 pick!?!  No, you take it!

That could very well be the theme tonight when two of the NBA’s worst team matchup tonight in Philly.  Now, the trajectories of these two teams are far different of course, but the 2016-2017 records are what they are.  Philly is showing signs of growth after three year of unprecedented futility and The Process, especially in the case of Joel Embiid, appears to be working.

For Miami, was it really three years ago they were parading through the city with the trophy?  LeBron is long gone, and now so are Bosh and Wade, and instead they are getting shots heaved up in doses by Justice Winslow and Tyler Johnson.  Yikes.  Hassan Whiteside has been good, a deserving All Star, but the rest of this roster is devoid of much promise.

Don’t look now, but Philly is 3-5 at home and has won three straight.  Their losses include narrow losses to the Thunder and a one-point loss to the Cavs.  They aren’t “good” yet, but they aren’t incompetent either.  I am frankly surprised that they are big underdogs at home tonight, but am willing to take the points.

Philly is 6-2 ATS this season at home.  I like them getting 4.5, and might be worth a consideration at +170 on the moneyline as well.
