We had another winning NBA pick last night to run the February record to 12-6 ATS. Let’s aim for a nice Valentine’s Day present with a few more winners tonight. Though, if you are spending your Valentine’s Evening watching your winners cash in at the sake of your significant other’s evening… things probably won’t go so well for you overall. Hmmm…. maybe there’s a compromise.
Me, I’m getting my picks in early, then will have a nice V-Day dinner with the missus while surreptitiously checking scores on my iPhone under the table. Now that’s a helluva plan!
Enjoy the day. Enjoy the picks.
By the way, I think the NBA secretly loves you too. What could be move loving that a V-Day gift of the two best teams featuring the two best players on the planet in the 8PM TNT game, followed up by the drama and intrigue of the Battle for Los Angeles??? Let’s quickly breakdown both matchups.
Miami Heat at Oklahoma City Thunder -5 (Total: 204.5)
Miami has kicked it into gear the last week, winning six games in a row, though you could make the argument all but the Toronto game was at home. Regardless of where the games where being played, HOW Lebron James has played is jaw-dropping. The reigning (and undoubtedly current) MVP has tallied 30+ points in all six games, and has done it shooting 60 of 80 from the floor. That’s 75%!! In one game he scored 30 points while taking only 11 shots from the floor. It is excellence and efficiency like this league has never seen, and it will be intriguing to see if he can take the show on the road tonight.
Neither one of these teams losing often at home, which gives OKC an edge tonight. Both are 23-3 at home, tying them with the Denver Nuggets for fewest home losses in the NBA. But if OKC is ever going to drop a home game, Miami would be a good candidate to be the culprit. They have beaten them five straight times including last year’s NBA Finals and have won two of their last four in Oklahoma overall.
This has the makings of a great classic game, but I’m going to lean Miami’s way with the five points. I wouldn’t be surprised if either team won, but five points is a pretty wide margin for a Miami team playing as well as they have been.
Free Pick: Miami Heat +5
Los Angeles Clippers -3 at Los Angeles Lakers (Total: 199)
The Lakers have actually been playing fairly well lately, winning seven of ten games, especially considering that eight of their last ten games are on the road and one of the losses was at Miami. However, the Clippers are finally back at full strength and when Chris Paul plays they generally win this season. I don’t think tonight will be an exception. The Lakers are “at home” which simply means the floor will be their color tonight in the Staples Center these two teams share. Suffice it to say that travel won’t be too rough on the Clippers tonight.
I like LAC to play well and handle their business in a rivalry game that still means a lot more to the Clippers than it does the Lakers. Give me Little Brother with the win and the cover.
Free Pick: Los Angeles Clippers -3
