Indiana Pacers vs. Chicago Bulls Pick – NBA December 26, 2021

The Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls meet at the United Center the day after Christmas in Chicago.

The Pacers are coming off a 118-106 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. They took control in the 4th quarter after the Rockets went cold from the field.

It’s hard to score only 12 points in a quarter, but that’s what the Rockets did. They put in 12 points to the Pacers’ 27 points to lose touch.

Houston was playing fine enough basketball before the final frame arrived. The Pacers have been up and down with two wins in their last five attempts.

They are heading into tonight at 14-19 on the season. The Pacers were without Domantes Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon but still held up well.

Sabonis and Brogdon are listed as questionable to go Sunday against the Bulls. It isn’t a Covid related thing, so well see if they’re healthy enough tonight.

The Bulls are coming off a win over the Houston Rockets as well. They cut through the Rockets’ defense with ease for a 133-118 win.

Along with a 115-110 win over the Lakers, the Bulls are coming off back-to-back wins and have a win in seven of their last nine attempts.

Chicago is a playoff team at 19-10. They are in a tie with the Milwaukee Bucks, and just two games behind the Brooklyn Nets for the lead in the Eastern Conference.

Alex Caruso will be unavailable with a left foot sprain after injuring it against the Rockets. It could have been something worse, so the Bulls have to take the good with the bad.

Pacers vs. Bulls Prediction:

The Pacers need to play better defense on the road if they’re leaving the United Center with a win. They took advantage of a cold-shooting quarter from the Rockets, but can’t depend on that happening again versus a team like the Bulls.

If the Rockets shoot just reasonably well in the 4th, they would have been neck and neck with the Pacers. Prior to the final frame, the Rockets scored 28, 30, and 36 points.

That sounds about right for how it’s been going recently for the Pacers’ defense. Leading up to that matchup, the Pacers conceded 114, 113, and 125 points in their last three outings.

Indiana must do better on the perimeter versus the three-ball. They are 20th in the league with opponents shooting 35.5% from downtown.

Overall, opponents are shooting 45.8% versus the Pacers. The Bulls struggled to score against the Cavaliers and Heat, 92 points in each attempt. However, they got back to business versus thinner defenses in the Lakers, 115 points, and Rockets, 133 points.
