We suffered only our fourth NBA loss of the month last night with the Heat’s ambivalent performance against the Pistons. It wasn’t a good loss for the Heat, who continue to falter every time people are ready to put them in the “maybe they are the second best team in the East??” discussion. Last night was a one-point loss, but those are games that championship contenders usually win at home.
Alas, it’s still been a great month for us, and I don’t plan on packing it in anytime soon. We have one more night of action before the NBA goes dark on Christmas Eve, so no picks tomorrow, but be sure to check back early for a few bonus Christmas Day stocking stuffers as the NBA celebrates
It’s a pretty packed evening of action with 13 games on the slate, though none of them are exactly marquee matchups. Perhaps the Association wanted to save the drama for Christmas?? Either way, just because they may not be any games worth skipping your Christmas party over, there are a few good wagering opportunities out there. Let’s hone in on my favorite.

Today’s Free Pick:
Sacramento Kings at Indiana Pacers -6.5
OK, I know. I got burnt for one of my four December losses three nights ago fading the Kings on the road. Not only did they cover in Toronto, they won straight up. But asking them to win yet another road game (they are still just 3-10 away from home on the season) in Indianapolis where the Pacers are 10-3, seems like a tall ask. Indiana has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the NBA this season, and perhaps the answer to the elusive “second best team in the East.”
The Pacers have lost two games in row, but their last game was against the Spurs on the back end of a back to back. Now they are home, for the Kings, and rested. Expect that losing streak to be a distant memory by 10pm EST. Paul George just endured the worst performance of his career, shooting 1 of 14 in a blowout loss to the Spurs. More than a few people have remarked about the fact he was guarded by Kawhi Leonard, ergo, NOT a coincidence he struggled. PG-13 bristled at the assertion and really bristled at the notion that perhaps the real best two-way player in the league was revealed. Expect PG-13 to roar back with a vengeance tonight.
Sacramento has been playing much better of late and is certainly a team with some talent. But I am going to bank on the long road trip finally catching up with them and the Pacers laying one on them tonight at Bankers Life.
