Tonight (Thursday June 17th) will be the night that the NBA Championship is going to be decided in Los Angeles. The series has been spectacular thus far and I’m actually glad that the two teams made it to game seven. The Lakers and the Celtics have actually met in the NBA Finals a total of twelve times now and the series has gone seven games in five of those series including tonight’s game. In the four previous game seven match-ups between these two teams in the NBA Finals the Celtics have walked away with the NBA Championship every time.
The first four games of the series seen both teams split games with the Lakers taking games 1 and 3 and the Celtics taking games 2 and 4. In game 5 the Celtics were able to win the crucial game that gave them the 3-2 series lead and they were hoping to come into Los Angeles and finish the series in six on Tuesday. I’m not to sure what happened to the Celtics on the way to LA, but they weren’t the same team that I had been watching in the previous five games. The Celtics came out completely flat and they were down by double digits very quickly. The Lakers cruised to a 20+-point victory and the Celtics were unable to surpass 70 points in the game.
With the terrible game six of the Celtics hopefully behind them, we can expect a very emotional game seven tonight. I expect the action to be intense from the tip-off and both teams are going to need to have a fire under them if they want to keep up. The team that can earn the early lead in this game is going to have an overwhelming advantage I think. Both of these teams have proven to be able to rise up to the moment and I can’t wait for the game to begin.
An interesting stat that I noticed while looking over the game today was the rebound battle in the series. The team that has won the game has also won the rebound battle in all six games this series. I have a strong feeling that this trend is going to continue, which means the Celtics are going to need to step-up to the plate tonight. With Perkins injured for the game they’ll already be missing a big part of there rebound game and they’re going to need Wallace and Davis to step-up.

Boston Celtics +7 (-108)
@ Los Angeles Lakers -7 (-102)

Lakers vs Celtics Game 7 Predictions and Picks:
Spread Prediction – With the point spread line set at –7 for the Lakers tonight I can’t help but think that the Celtics have an amazing chance at staying under this number. Most of the previous game seven match-ups between these two teams have been settled with only a few point difference and I think tonight will be much of the same. I think that the public will be hammering the Lakers and I just don’t see them covering a –7 spread. Game six was a disaster for the Celtics and losing Perkins didn’t help either, but I think Davis can handle the load. The Celtics also have a lot of heart and I can’t see them losing 2 games in a row in the NBA Finals by double digits. Bet the Celtics +7!
Game Total Pick – With the first two games of the series going over 187 points and the four most recent games staying under this total it’s hard to say what to bet on tonight. I can see both teams coming out on fire and trading baskets, but I can also see both teams playing a chess game and not taking many chances. I think that tonight the total is going to go over the 187 points. The two games that did go over this series were both played in LA and I think we’ll see another one in game seven. Bet the OVER 186!
