The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics will meet-up on Tuesday (June 8th) for the third game of the NBA Finals. This will be the first match-up in Boston and if the Celtics have anything to say about things they won’t be leaving Boston. With the series now tied at one game apiece after two games the Celtics will have the opportunity to finish the series in Boston if they can manage to win three games in a row. Although this is unlikely I really like the Celtic’s chances to take 2 out of 3 games in Boston, which would give them a 3-2 series lead going back to Los Angeles.
In the first game of the series the Celtics come out a little flat on offense and they ended up losing by double digits. The second game was a completely different story as the Celtics managed to leave the Staples Centre with a 9-point victory. Rondo had a great game on Sunday and finished with a triple double, but the story of the night was the lights out shooting by Ray Allen. Allen managed to set a record for knocking down the most 3-point shots in an NBA Finals game with 8 three-pointers.
With game three about to kick-off both teams are going to be looking for the victory. I personally think that the Celtics will be glad to be home and they’ll have a great game in Boston. It should be noted that the Lakers have struggled in all of their third games in each series thus far in the 2010 NBA Playoffs. They are 1-2 in game three’s right now and the game that they did win was a buzzer beater against Oklahoma City.
The Celtics are going to need another great performance from Allen in game three, but more importantly I think that Rondo needs to come up big. He is the young superstar on the team and has been showing everyone that he is a great player. When Rondo puts up a triple double the Celtics are 8-1, if he can have another triple double then the Celtics should win. One of the things I’d like to see from the Celtics in game three is better clock control. They have been playing at a pace quicker then they’re used too so far in the series and if they don’t slow the pace down a bit then I worry that they might run out of gas.
Lakers vs Celtics NBA Finals Game 3 Spread and Betting Odds:
Los Angeles Lakers +2.5
@ Boston Celtics -2.5
Lakers vs Celtics Game 3 Predictions and Picks:
Spread Pick – With a small point spread of –2.5 on the Celtics in game three I’ll be taking them to take the lead in the series. With the Lakers bad play in game number three throughout the playoffs this year I think the Celtics should jump out to a nice early lead and cruise to a 5-8 point victory in Boston. I have a feeling that Kobe is going to come out and have a huge game in game three, as he was limited in game two, but I still don’t think it’ll be enough. Bet on the Celtics -2.5 on the spread!
Game Total (Over/Under) Pick – The first game in the series only had 191 points while the second game in the series had 197 points. I think that the over is looking to be the best bet on the over/under tonight. The Celtics had a pretty bad first game in terms of offense and I think they’ll easily put up more then 89 points in front of their home crowd. Although the Celtics need to slow down the game it doesn’t mean they’ll be able to and I think the Lakers will post up more then 90 points tomorrow. My prediction for the game tonight is the Celtics 102 and the Lakers 96 – Bet the OVER!
