Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Pick – NBA December 10, 2021

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a back-to-back after a lazy loss in Memphis last night. It was a sloppy and uninspired effort from the Lakers. They turned the ball over and over in the first-half, and ended the game with a total of 22 turnovers as opposed to 13 for the Grizzlies.

That’s just lazy basketball. They have no excuses going from a 117-102 win over the Boston Celtics to a 108-95 loss to a Ja Morant-less Grizzlies team. The Lakers have the talent advantage over the Grizzlies, but not the effort and drive to win.

Anthony Davis has to play up to his expectations and not go through the motions, but we can look at this entire team and find where there can be improvements. Russell Westbrook is good when he wants to be. His 9-point effort in Memphis wasn’t one of those days.

A guy that never quits like Kyle Lowry would have been a good addition for the Lakers. He doesn’t go through the motions. After an embarrassing effort last night, should we expect to see better from the Lakers in Oklahoma?

No-showing against the Thunder would be a worse look for the Lakers than last night. The Thunder are coming off a rare spot where they won back-to-back games against the Pistons, 114-103, and Raptors, 110-109.

They were coming off an eight-game losing streak before their two wins, and it was only the second time this season that the Thunder won consecutive games. They won four straight from November 4 to November 12, but never back-to-back wins since then until they beat the Raps by a point.

The Thunder are going into Friday night with a record of 8-16. They have a bevy of draft picks in the future courtesy of the LA Clippers.

There’s a decent foundation for the Thunder already with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort, and Josh Giddey, but they could need some help.

The future doesn’t look gloomy if the front office plays things right. If the Lakers are lazy again tonight, the present might look really good on Friday night. Head below for our free Lakers vs. Thunder pick on December 10, 2021.

Lakers vs. Thunder Prediction:

When the Lakers want to play, they can pull away from an inferior opponent and blow them out. You have to handicap whether the Lakers are interested in putting in effort, though. That can often be tough to decipher, but I think we’ll see the good side of the Lakers tonight.

After a lazy attempt and careless basketball just giving the Grizzlies a free ball on sloppy turnovers, the Lakers will likely come out hard to avoid losing to a 8-16 Thunder squad.

For all of the Lakers’ criticism, the offense has played well for the most part. The Lakers are fifth in the NBA with 111.3 points scored per game. They are shooting 46.5% from the field in sixth.

The frustrating part for Lakers’ fans is that they can be better than that with more focus. A lack of effort usually results in lots of points allowed.

That’s been the case for the Lakers. They are 28th in the league with 112.8 points against per game.

Despite injuries last year, the Lakers were putting in better work defensively. Not at all this season, especially Anthony Davis who has to look at himself and do more.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Trends:

  • 7-3-1 ATS in their previous 11 games after a loss by more than 10 points
  • 3-7 ATS in their previous ten games
  • 7-20-1 ATS in their previous 28 games as a favorite
  • 3-6 ATS in their previous nine games
  • 6-3 overall in their previous nine games

  • 8-3 ATS in their previous 11 games
  • 1-5 overall in their previous six games at OKC
  • 1-4 overall in their previous five games versus the Western Conference
  • OVER is 4-1 in their previous five games versus the Lakers
  • OVER is 7-2 in their previous nine games

The Thunder have had a scoring problem this season. If Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort aren’t on point for the Thunder, they have a tough time scoring.

OKC is 30th in the NBA with just 99.3 points scored per game. They are 29th with a well below average field goal percentage of 41.2%. If the Thunder need threes in bunches, it can be tough for them.

They are 30th in the NBA from downtown with a three-point percentage of 30.9%. On the other side of the floor, the Thunder have struggled to defend the three with teams shooting 36.3% versus their defense.

I know it’s asking a lot of the Lakers to get up for a game, but after that turnover fest last night with no effort, they should have some pride versus a team like the Thunder.

A back-to-back is probably for the better. I like the Lakers to win and cover with a 4th quarter surge to put the Thunder away for a 114-105 win.
