Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards Pick – NBA March 19, 2022

The Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards are on the floor at Capital One Arena on Saturday night. Both teams are on a back-to-back going into this one.

The Lakers are coming off a wild win against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Center last night. Russell Westbrook came through in the clutch with a three-pointer to force overtime.

They had the Raptors on the ropes and carried on for a 128-123 win. The Lakers ended a three-game skid with the win, as they responded well after a 124-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

However, responding well in one game isn’t good enough for the Lakers. They need to put together a run over the next month down the stretch.

Right now, the Lakers are in the play-in tournament with a record of 30-40. I don’t care if it’s the play-in or what have you, but no team ten games below should have a chance in the postseason.

The Lakers are still kicking despite what has been a disastrous season, though. This isn’t what they envisioned when Westbrook joined this roster, but it’s increasingly looking like he’s one-and-done in Los Angeles with the Lakers.

The Wizards are coming off a 100-97 loss at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. They’re lost without Bradley Beal on the floor, and it’s not getting any easier.

Washington is on a six-game losing streak, as they haven’t learned how to win without their all-star in the starting lineup. The Wizards have won just two of their previous 11 attempts going into tonight.

Lakers vs. Wizards Prediction:

The Lakers have been disappointingly inconsistent this season on offense. While the defense is a concern for the Lakers, their offense can’t put a consistent stretch together.

They are 13th in the NBA with 111.1 points per game on 46.5% shooting. The Lakers aren’t all that except LeBron James for a team that looks great on paper.

The Anthony Davis injury hurts, but the real concern has been the careless Russell Westbrook. If you want to talk about inconsistency, he is the definition of it this season.

Depth is also a concern for the Lakers. Alex Caruso wasn’t the most beloved Laker ever, but he was a solid depth player who gave the Lakers a spark on both floor ends. Kyle Kuzma, now a Wizard, is another player that they miss.

Instead, Westbrook is running around and not providing the best chemistry with his teammates. Before going to overtime in Toronto last night, the Lakers scored 111, 103, 104 points.

The Wizards’ defense is beatable, but what kind of interest do the Lakers have after playing in Toronto last night?

Overall, Washington has allowed 111.4 points per game for 18th in the league. Against a tired and older Lakers squad, expect the Wizards to do a reasonable job holding the Lakers down.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards Betting Trends:

  • 1-4 ATS overall in their previous five games as an underdog
  • 1-5 ATS in their previous six games on the road
  • 3-8-1 ATS in their previous 12 games
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games on a back-to-back
  • UNDER is 9-1 in their previous ten games after their starting five played more than 160 minutes
  • 4-14-1 ATS in their 19 games at home
  • 2-7-1 ATS in their previous ten games as a betting favorite at home
  • 1-5 ATS in their previous six games
  • 0-8 ATS in their previous eight games versus the Pacific Division
  • UNDER is 5-3 in their previous eight games versus the Lakers

The Wizards’ offense is all out of sorts without Bradley Beal on the court. Everything runs through Beal, and they’ve looked confused without their go-to man active.

They show up in spots sometimes, but nothing consistent to get excited. Heading into this evening at home, the Wizards have scored 108.2 points per game for 22nd in the NBA.

Washington is scoring 111.1 points per game at home to the Lakers’ 110.3 points per game on the road. On a back-to-back with both teams coming off road games, there should be tired legs at Capital One Arena.

The total in this one looks too inflated. The OVER will attract most of the money in this matchup, but I’m not interested in asking for more than 228 points. On the contrary, the UNDER looks like the bet.
