The 9-17 Magic remain out on the West Coast to take on the 12-12 Kings on Friday night. Orlando gave the Warriors everything they had on Thursday night, but ultimately fell 111-105 after a late surge from Golden State. Evan Fournier (back) and Cole Anthony (shoulder) did not play for the Magic last night and remain questionable for tonight’s matchup. The Kings played Tuesday night, losing to 119-111 to the 76ers. Sacramento’s De’Aron Fox had 34 points against the 76ers, but it took him 30 shots to get there as he made 13-of-30 field-goal attempts.
The Magic are led by center Nikola Vucevic, who is averaging 23.3 points and 11.6 points per game. In the first two games of their West Coast trip, Vucevic has averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds. If the Magic have to go without Anthony and Fournier once again, Vucevic will need to have another big game for the Magic to have a fighting chance.
The Kings are led by young star Fox, who averages 23.4 points per and 6.7 assists per game. But Fox doesn’t carry the Kings’ scoring load alone. Sacramento has three players averaging over 16 points per game (Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes in addition to Fox), compared to just two for the Magic with one of those being questionable for tonight’s game (Fournier).
Orlando is 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games. The Magic also have struggled to cover the spread as an underdog this season, with a 6-11 record in those games. The Kings have found their stride, covering eight of their last 10 and winning seven of those games outright.
Sacramento is playing better basketball right now and catching the Magic in a great spot on the second night of a back-to-back, with the Magic already shorthanded. Expect fatigue to play a factor for Orlando, a team that struggles to score even at full strength and under the best of circumstances. The Kings should be able to handle the Magic easily and cruise to a double-digit win to cover the spread.
