Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors Pick – NBA December 23, 2021

The Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors headline the Thursday night NBA slate in the Bay Area. The Grizzlies are in town looking to slay the dragon at the Chase Center.

Memphis is coming off a 102-99 loss versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. It’s their second straight loss, with a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers the day before, 105-100.

Ja Morant made his return to the floor versus the Thunder, and he was getting heckled by his own fans in Memphis. The Grizzlies were rolling without Morant in the lineup.

They had wins in five of six games before the Grizzlies struggled versus a beatable Thunder team at home. Morant indicated that he was hurt by the comments and is taking a break from social media.

It was his first game back since November 26, so I’m not sure what Grizzly fans were expecting out of Morant. He had to be rusty in that performance.

Morant should be in better form tonight versus the Warriors. He probably only needs a game to shake it off.

The Grizzlies head into the Bay Area with a record of 19-13 and fourth in the Western Conference. Memphis is three games behind the Utah Jazz for third in the conference.

The Phoenix Suns lead the West at 25-5 on the year. Golden State is a half-game behind the Suns for the lead.

They are coming off a 113-98 win over the Sacramento Kings after a 119-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Steph Curry and Draymond Green did not make the trip to Toronto for that game.

Grizzlies vs. Warriors Prediction:

We know by now how good the Golden State Warriors are this season. They are a major contender and just awaiting the return of Klay Thompson. That’s the scary part for the rest of the NBA.

Golden State may not even have reached their full potential. He was supposed to return in late December, but it has been pushed back to January.

Without Thompson, the Warriors have scored 111.5 points per game for fourth in the NBA. The Warriors are shooting an impressive 47.1% from three for third-best.

Their defense has held up well this season as well. Golden State has conceded 101 points per game and a field goal percentage of 42.6%. Good for the best numbers in the NBA

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Trends:

  • 6-0 ATS in thier previous six games as an underdog
  • 5-0 ATS in their previous five games as an underdog on the road
  • 6-0 ATS in their previous six games on the road
  • 9-4 ATS in their previous 13 games
  • 5-0 ATS in their previous five games on a Thursday

  • 4-1-1 ATS in their previous six games after two-day rest
  • 1-5-1 ATS in their previous seven seven games after a win
  • 0-3-1 ATS in their previous four games after covering the spread
  • 17-35 ATS in their previous 52 games on a Thursday
  • UNDER is 5-1-1 in their previous seven games as the betting favorite at the Chase Center

Covid is sweeping through the NBA at the moment, and Golden State has not been able to avoid it. They will be shorthanded on Thursday night without Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole on the Covid list.

Along with Wiggins and Poole, Damion Lee was added to the Covid list on Wednesday. Lee has been coming on lately and a great depth piece for Golden State.

It’s the Warriors and they have tremendous depth when they’re healthy, but with all of these guys on the sideline, the Warriors are wearing thin for tonight.

The Grizzlies have played Golden State tough in recent memory. They have beaten the Warriors in three of their last four attempts, including most recently at Golden State on October 28.

Memphis offed the Warriors in overtime by 104-101. This was after a 117-112 win in overtime late last season in May over Golden State.

They have covered five of their last seven against the Warriors, and they’ll have a healthier lineup with Morany back in the lineup this evening.

The public is loading up on the Warriors, but the line isn’t budging. I am going to take my chances on the Grizzlies plus the points in this spot.
