The Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets are at the Barclays Center in New York. This is a heavyweight matchup between the Bucks and Nets.
It could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. Mind you, the playoffs will be wide-open, so you could mix and match several teams in the East as a potential conference championship.
The NBA was getting so predictable in the playoffs that I’m all for this wide-open approach going into April. Instead of two or three teams dominating, it’s up in the air this season, including the Bucks and Nets.

Milwaukee is coming off a 118-116 win at Philadelphia two days back. They were on the heels of a 127-102 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
The Grizzlies are beating everyone at the moment, including the Bucks in a blowout at home. They’ve won 11 of their previous 14 attempts and 47-28 on the season heading into tonight.
Brooklyn is coming off a hard-fought win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. The Pistons have been playing much better basketball recently, so failing to cover 14 points wasn’t that surprising.
The Nets are have won four of their last six going into tonight. They struggled in a 119-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets before coming back with a win versus the Pistons.

It hasn’t been a perfect season in Brooklyn. For a team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, a record of 40-36 isn’t what they’re looking for in 2021-22.
Irving is clear to play at the Barclays Center through the playoffs, so we’ll see. There isn’t any room for blaming James Harden now.

Bucks vs. Nets Prediction:
The Bucks are trailing the Miami Heat by a game in the Eastern Conference tonight. They are good, but have not been perfect. Their defense has left something to be desired and must tighten up in the playoffs.
Milwaukee is 16th in the NBA with 111.3 points against per game. You’d expect better on the boards from a team with Giannis. However, the Bucks are 18th in defensive rebounding. That could be better.
The Bucks can roll up the points in a hurry. They’re the fourth-best team in the league with 114.9 points per game. They are hitting the offensive boards, and nobody has an issue with this offense.
The offense is in good form with 115.8 points per game and a 49% field goal percentage across their last five attempts.
Brooklyn beats the Bucks in that regard, though. The Nets have netted 116.8 points per game and a 49.8% field goal percentage through their last five.
Expect a big effort from Brooklyn in this one. It’s a chance for them to make a statement against a formidable foe at home, and I think they show up.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Trends:
- 9-21 ATS in their previous 30 games as an underdog
- 2-7 ATS in their previous nine games as an underdog on the road
- 9-3 ATS in their previous 12 games
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a losing record at home
- OVER is 11-5 in their previous 16 games
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a winning record
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games after failing to cover the spread
- 6-2-1 ATS in their previous nine games on a one-day break
- 8-3 overall in their previous 11 games
- OVER is 8-3 in their previous 11 games after failing to cover the spread
Despite playing without Kyrie Irving for much of this season, the Nets are in the top-10 with 112.4 points per game, and a 47.4% field goal percentage for fourth in the league.
As we noted, the Nets have put in 116.8 points per game and a 49.8% field goal percentage in their last five games. The offense is playing well and against a spotty Bucks’ defense, look for the Nets to bring it in a spot where they should be motivated.
If the Nets want to be taken seriously with the playoffs quickly approaching, a big statement win over the Bucks would be a good start. Andre Drummond should do enough to bother Giannis just enough. I’m leaning towards them doing that tonight at home.
