Milwaukee Bucks vs. Houston Rockets Pick – NBA December 10, 2021

The Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets are scheduled at the Toyota Center on Friday night. The Bucks are looking for a positive response following a 113-104 loss against the Miami Heat.

It’s been that kind of year for the Bucks, but has been playing much better overall recently. Going back to the start of the season, they have looked great against a good team, and then lack the extra push on another night.

The Bucks beat the Heat 124-102 at home this past Saturday. This was after a 97-93 loss against the Toronto Raptors, albeit without Giannis Antetokuonmpo.

Despite blowing the Heat out in that one, they couldn’t keep up in Miami on December 8 with a 113-104 loss. Giannis had an off night, as he scored just 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton had quality games, but when Giannis isn’t playing well against a team like the Heat, it’s typically not good news at the end of 4 quarters.

The Bucks regressed to 16-10 on the season with the losing effort. They have still been in good shape over the last few weeks, though. Milwaukee is a winner in 10 of their last 12 attempts.

After the loss against the Heat, the Bucks have three more games on this four-game road trip. Their next stop is at Houston against the Rockets. Jalen Green has been absent, but no problem for the Rockets.

The Rockets are on a seven-game winning streak, including a mightily impressive 114-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. Green has been OUT for six games. The rookie still doesn’t have a timetable for a return.

No, the Rockets aren’t a better team without Green on the floor. Sure they’re playing better at the moment, but over the course of a full season, the Rockets would be worse off. Houston could hit a very big wall soon despite their seven-game run.

Bucks vs. Rockets Prediction:

The Rockets have been looking up despite the absence of Jalen Green on the floor. Having said that, let’s look at the teams they’ve beaten during this winning streak.

Four of those wins were against the Thunder x2, Magic, and Pelicans. The others were over the Bulls, Hornets, and Nets. Those were good wins.

The Nets were coming off a 112-109 win over the Dallas Mavericks the night before, and didn’t look interested against the Rockets. It’s not to take anything away from the Rockets, who are playing much better basketball.

However, it’s important to note that I don’t think the Rockets are going to remain at this pace without Green on the floor. They are going to meet a team, possibly the Bucks, that are a big mismatch.

The Rockets are 26th in the NBA defensively with 111.5 points allowed per game. Their offense has scored 105.5 points a game for 22nd in the league.

They need to do better at the charity stripe, with a 70.6% free throw percentage. There are only two teams in the NBA shooting worse at the line than the Rockets.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Houston Rockets Betting Trends:

  • 6-2 ATS in their previous eight games as a favorite on the road
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a losing record
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games on one-day rest
  • 4-2 ATS in their previous six games versus the Rockets
  • OVER is 5-2 in their previous seven games

  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games
  • 4-0 ATS in their previous four games as an underdog in Houston
  • 8-17 ATS in their previous 25 games in Houston versus a team with a winning road record
  • 15-36 ATS in their previous 51 games in Houston
  • OVER is 5-2 in their previous seven games

Giannis is going off a slow performance, but expect him to bounce back nicely in this one. He should get the better of Christian Wood on Friday night.

The Rockets might attempt to double Giannis with Jae’Sean Tate and Wood, but don’t see it going well. If the Bucks are smart and don’t try to get too cute, there are going to be defensive lapses to find in the Rockets.

Wood said after their seventh win that it’s surprising they’re on a seven-game winning streak. That doesn’t sound like a team that is going to be overly motivated to get to an eight-game winning streak.

Houston has been good recently, but I’m going with the Bucks by double digits to put an end to their fun. Look for the Rockets to get too complacent at home tonight.
