The Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies meet in the game of the night in the NBA tonight. This is a matchup that I’m looking forward to at FedEx Forum in Tennessee.
The Grizzlies suggest that they belong with the elite teams in the league. They have an opportunity to show everyone that tonight versus the defending champs.
It isn’t like Memphis hasn’t beaten good teams this season, though. The Grizzlies have often shown that they’re able to compete and beat the best teams in the league.
Memphis has won seven of their previous eight attempts going into Saturday night. They’re feeling good on a three-game winning streak entering this one.
The Grizzlies cleared the Indiana Pacers for a 133-103 win in their latest win. There was no letdown for the Grizzlies after a 132-120 win over the Brooklyn Nets the night before.
On March 23 vs. the Nets, Desmond Bane set a franchise record for most threes made in a season, played 32 minutes and travelled 2.40 miles at an average of 4.06 MPH.@FedEx | #PlayerTracker pic.twitter.com/30LFjvpgxu

The back-to-back didn’t bother the Grizzlies in the least at home. No Ja Morant? No problem for Desmond Bane. Bane led the Grizz in scoring in both attempts with 23 and 30.
He is making the best out of the situation in the backcourt with Morant out of the lineup. Bane is scoring an average of 18.2 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.
The Grizzlies were in fine form when Morant was injured earlier in the season. Remember the boos when he returned, and Memphis lost? This doesn’t mean they’re better without him.
A healthy Morant and Bane together in the playoffs is a threat to all in the Western Conference. Memphis is 51-23 and has the second-best record in the West on Saturday.

The Bucks are 46-27 and looking to put together a three-game winning streak in this one. On Thursday, they were without Giannis versus the Washington Wizards, but it didn’t matter in a 114-102 final.
Milwaukee made easy work of the Bulls a couple of days earlier in a 126-98 game. They have a win four of their last five entering tonight, with both teams in good form entering the FedEx Forum.

Bucks vs. Grizzlies Prediction:
The Grizzlies aren’t a one-trick pony this season. This team isn’t all Ja Morant, and they can the Grizzlies can play defense as well.
It took a minute for the public to take notice of Morant. Now they shouldn’t make the same mistake and ignore Desmond Bane for too long. It’s hard to hide how good Bane is, though.
Memphis is the third-best team in the NBA, with 115.1 points per game on 46.1% shooting. Scoring more than 115 points per game wouldn’t be possible without Steven Adams in the paint.
As good as Morant and Bane are on the floor for the Grizzlies, Adams is their secret weapon on this team. Adams and the rest of their big men in the paint have made life much easier on their star guards.
The Grizzlies are first in the league in offensive rebounding. High-percentage second-chance points have led to the Grizzlies having their success.
Milwaukee is second in defensive rebounding, but just 17th on the offensive boards. Their defense has leaks, as the Bucks are 16th in the NBA with 111 points allowed per game.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Memphis Grizzlies Betting Trends:
- 2-7 ATS in their previous nine games as an underdog on the road
- 2-6 ATS in their previous eight games versus a team with a winning percentage at home better than 60%
- 1-6 ATS in their previous seven games on a Saturday
- 9-21 ATS in their previous 30 games as an underdog
- UNDER is 8-3 in their previous 11 games as an underdog
- 5-1 ATS in their previous six games as a betting favorite at home
- 13-3 ATS in their previous 16 games at home
- 11-2 ATS in their previous 13 games after scoring more than 125 points
- 5-0 ATS in their previous five games at home versus a team with a winning record on the road
- 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games versus a team with winning percentage better than 60%
Khris Middleton is expected to return for the Bucks on Saturday night. However, Jrue Holiday is going to be OUT with an ankle injury. That hurts. Holiday was playing sharp basketball, and now he’ll have to sit.
Giannis is officially listed as questionable in Memphis tonight. He’s probably playing given the point spread, but no word if Giannis is going to be suiting up. They need him in this one against an underrated Grizzlies’ defense.
The Grizzlies have been solid at home, with 107.5 points against per game and a 45% field goal percentage. As I said, they aren’t a one-trick team and are well-balanced on both ends of the floor.
Expect the Grizzlies to be motivated for this one with the defending champs in town. It should be a competitive matchup, with the Grizz having just enough in the tank to draw clear for a 118-113 win.
