In a myriad of early 1 pm ET games, we focus on the dinner hour games. All three of these games have their talking and watching points and have listed them below. Playing the streaks pays usually, but always keep an eye on trends and games of late.
NBA Betting Picks for Sunday, December 19th:
New Orleans Hornets @ Detroit Pistons – New Orleans has the propensity to play poorly against bad teams on the road, showing that they are yet to become a powerhouse in the West. The Hornets are continuing to find different scoring avenues out of necessity at times. The newest marvel is Marcus Thornton who enjoyed a stellar previous season in contributions with Darren Collison filling in for the injured Chris Paul. Beating Utah and coming back on Sacramento consecutively has given this team a little more confidence and swagger on offense. But this is a team that lost to Philadelphia on the road 88-70, thus a lower spread.

New Orleans VS Detroit – With such a low total, the lowest I’ve taken, to my recollection. This one may be closer than anticipated and if New Orleans can win big, the Pistons aren’t likely to match the interior scoring of D.West and Okafor. With a big run to start against the Kings, NO fell down early and often but came back late putting up big numbers compared to what the game could have ended up as just eclipsing 185. Detroit showed character in rebuilding their moral after blowing a 25 pt. comeback loss to Toronto Raptors and came back and took in consequently to the Atlanta Hawks on the 14th of December. If the Pistons would resound to the fact that they need contributions from all five of their spots, they’d be starting Monroe and Villanueva rather than a mix of Maxiel and Wallace who offer nothing to be desired on offense.
Phoenix Suns @ Oklahoma City Thunder – With the Steve Nash injury and the trade acquisitions being questionable the Phoenix Suns may just relent and chalk this one up as a loss. Something that fans may not want to hear, but is a reality with Jason Richardson being the biggest loss and Nash will not be 100% before the tip, the only reason that PHX would have a chance in this one. But when you look at their roster of remaining players, they do have the depth to compete and maintain, but facing OKC at home, may be too steep of a task for this new look team. Jason Richardson will be a key loss, as he was their key scorer and found his niche, though not as celebrated as when he signed his big deal with the Golden State Warriors way back when.
Houston is in a winnable game and life after Yao is beginning to look a lot like, well at least Christmas Eve.
