Eleven rich in the NBA today as we get back to the regular schedule for basketball fans. Lakers @ Hornets is a game that may go well under, but it won’t mean they aren’t working hard. Heat, rocketing into Houston offering up a challenge for both teams and am interested to see the outcome.
NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, December 29th:
Los Angeles Lakers @ New Orleans Hornets – This is one of the best times to face the defending NBA Champions. New Orleans getting the Lakers at home is great for this puzzling team that is just horrible on the road and a surprising 13-3 at N.O. Arena. L.A. has scored an average of 80 points in their last three games, all losses. Kobe is stressed by his play and in recent past, he’d blame team members for his lackluster figures. Bryant now realizes that he is a big issue for this team to score offensively. A match up with the defensively stout Hornets may not make him feel great, though their one weak defensive link is at the two spot. But Norleans has tremendous help defense, to stymie a big night from any one player. N.O. will get up for this one and quickly get over their visit to Minnesota. The underdog has gone 16-5 ATS in the last 21 head to head meetings.
Memphis Grizzlies @ Sacramento Kings – Two words! Rudy Gay. He is unstoppable when he wants to be and is a burgeoning superstar. Hopefully having Zach Randolph around him will show Gay that the steps to being above-average and truly great encompasses having poise, passion and willingness to incorporate it daily and part of your mindset, not just relying on your skill set. If Rudy shows up and goes off the Kings are out of it early. He has bought in defensively this year and the Grizz are feeling the impact, still in the hunt and fighting for that eighth spot in the West. Kings, losers of 9/10 are unsure of the obviously affected left foot of Tyreke Evans, who doesn’t look the same, lackadaisical at times and assertive at others. I see Michael Conley carving up the SAC defense and dime until he hits the two touchdown figure. Memphis took care of business against the Queens November 6th and was giving up two more points than now.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Phoenix Suns – These two teams have very similar records. But the difference of the win-loss tallies is that the Suns are in the much tougher West and are in place to be a much better team than in Phila. A Vince Carter citing may be in order for this one and he will be undoubtedly fresh and raring to go after being a forgotten piece in the deal with the Orlando Magic. Phoenix has a potent offense, that we know, but the absence of self-shot creator Jason Richardson has caused the offense to get stagnant and lean way too heavily on Steve Nash who will always keep you in the game, but needs a prolific finisher to close out games. Both teams have been road warriors of late and have seen their records creep closer to the bottom of the standings, because of it. In this match up, it will be a good showcase for the difference between the West and the Eastern Conference. PHI is 1-7 ATS in the last eight games in the Desert. Injuries may hamper both teams come game time.
Thunder giving nine is a bit much, but a comfortable home victory is in order.
