A three-pack in the NBA after an action packed slate last night, Tyreke Evans with an amazing clincher at the buzzer. Vince Carter couldn’t look more wrong in a Suns jersey and rocking # 25, thank you rockin’ Robin. We now turn our attention to tonight’s three games that are the choice soupe du jour for an NBA fans menu.
NBA Betting Picks for Thursday, December 30th:
New York Knicks @ Orlando Magic – The lack of depth at the center spot for the Magic will not bear into the final for the first time, since the trades. This is to be a match up that will show that Orlando is for real and the naysayer’s after the trades, voices are getting lower. New York is protecting home court of late and not fairing well on the road, a fact that was the complete opposite earlier in the season. Orlando has won four in a row and beaten the likes of visiting Boston and San Antonio in games that covered easily. New York lost in spectacular fashion last year to Orlando, dropping three games by double-digits. New York is improved and arguably ORL has also. The Knickerbockers are still an underdog against the top three in the East and are 0-4 so far. This will add to them becoming a home court advantage, playoff team or a team that will travel in their first match up.
Orlando VS New York – With the two leading three-point takers matching up Thursday, this is looking to be a high scoring affair. With Orlando now having the propensity to stay with a smaller lineup and using Gilbert Arenas a lot, coming in off the bench this team is an OVER waiting to happen. Stoudemire loves playing Orlando, boasting a monster winning percentage and continually posting double-dbls. He is now the first option and dropping 30 nightly. Stopping him is the ticket to a win, but Orlando may match up D.Ho one on one and stymie his offense enough for New York to get kick outs for a massive amount of three’s. In their three match ups previously the totals have all gone over and the lowest score was 216 combined. Both of these teams have figured it out offensively and are better more efficient scorers. And as the rotations begin to tighten the players fatigue and defensive assignments are routinely missed, able to be seen nightly.

San Antonio Spurs @ Dallas Mavericks – The injury done to himself for Dirk Nowitzki is not as serious as first anticipated and he is due back within the week and listed as day-to-day, just hoping this day he is sitting one more out or will be noticeably affected. If you witnessed the battle with visiting Toronto, undermanned without a point guard and Andrea Bargnani, they still soldiered on and showed their heart and hustle against a team that looked bad without the ball starting and going through their unquestioned leader on offense and mindset, Dallas looked old and lost, kicking back to JJ Barea for clutch buckets that are not in his repertoire. Dallas was rolling, returning home after three great road wins against OKC, Orlando and the Heat. San Antonio beat the Lakers in their last game. Showing that they can calculatedly disseminate any team in the NBA, when they feel like it. The Spurs are now showing that life without Tim Duncan is not as scary as the thought of no ‘Disco’ in the American Airlines Center. Duncan is still a top contributor, but in a more subdued role these days.
The total can be trusted in the Portland/Utah game as the Trailblazers can be relied upon to play to their abilities at home.
