Thursday night threesome in the NBA with a trio of NBA games at the convenient times of seven, eight and the late game at 10:30pm. I’ve highlighted the late game versus Denver and Portland. It will be the most competitive with Denver not having the home-air advantage.
NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, November 18th:
Los Angeles Clippers @ Indiana Pacers – The Clippers record is atrocious but without key players they are keeping it close in games against sub-.500 teams. Relying heavily on Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin shouldn’t be a bad thing, but with L.A. being unable to stop any elite scorer in the oppositions squad, they will continue to lose each and every outing. I cannot predict another near perfect shooting quarter for the Pacers, but it is the only way I see this number being met and surpassed by Indy. Kaman, Davis and Foye all out and were all starters and/or in the rotation for big minutes for Vinny Del Negro. He has yet to find his squad and continues to be out coached frequently as he becomes accustomed to his team. Injury updates could have a key to this one staying close for us.
Denver Nuggets @ Portland Trailblazers – Denver has lost its last three on the road to mediocre opponents, whereas Portland’s last three losses have come to the likes of New Orleans, OKC and the LA Lakers. Brandon Roy still being out is a big issue and even a hard decision when he is in their to pick against the Nugs, usually. The Blazers have the ideal backups for Roy in Wesley Matthews who received a nice contract to get him away from the Utah Jazz and Rudy Fernandez who can still play, with him still wanting to be traded away. Inside is still the issue with Marks, Babbitt and Dante Cunningham as their interior reserves. A team like Portland is all you could ask, no superstars, just great all round players that know what they can do and stay within themselves. After pulling it out in Memphis last night they are primed to show well in this one.
Portland VS Denver – GAME TOTAL – At first glance the total seems high for Portland lacking their best scorer and leader. Without the inside presence of Oden, Przybilla and K-Mart, look for the rim to be very open for the second squads without Nene and Camby in the game. Against good defensive clubs Portland struggles to put up 90. Against high powered offenses the Nuggets always give up 100 or more. In Portland’s last two wins they have scored exactly 100 points. These two teams will be there in the end as long as Portland gets healthy and Denver holds onto Carmelo Anthony, in previous years and through recent history, both are unlikely to happen. So as I am going with the Blazers to take this one, I can predict a nice score of 96-94 for Portland and hope that they slow down the pace and show up defensively.
The one other game is Phoenix visiting Orlando, I wanted to take the Suns at plus ten but after watching them get destroyed by the Miami Heat last night, I relented. Orlando is the way to go, if you can stomach ten points to a team that has not been rolling and relies on jump shots just as much as the desert ballers.
