The New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets have a Monday night matchup at the Spectrum Center.
New Orleans goes into Charlotte feeling good with back-to-back wins against the San Antonio Spurs, 124-91, and Atlanta Hawks, 117-112. The Pels go into this one with a record of 30-41.
They have needed something to go right this season, and that’s something. Before beating the Spurs, the Pelicans had lost five of six games.

During that stretch, the Pelicans beat the Rockets, but everyone is beating Houston. Beating the Spurs and Hawks on the road is a good look for the Pelicans.
However, it doesn’t take away that Zion Williamson’s career in New Orleans is still in limbo. They have also been without Brandon Ingram recently.
Ingram hasn’t played since a 38-point outing versus the Denver Nuggets on March 6. It’s important to have a healthy Ingram for the Pels to consistently play as they did against the Spurs and Hawks.

The Hornets are coming off a 129-108 win over the Dallas Mavericks two days back on Saturday. It was their fourth straight win and sixth in their previous eight attempts.
Charlotte is ninth in the Eastern Conference at 36-35 this season. They are in the play-in tournament as it stands right now.

Pelicans vs. Hornets Prediction:
The Pelicans played above expectations with their two recent wins. This isn’t what you come to expect from New Orleans, who are playing shorthanded.
So then the question is whether they can sustain the success. I’m not confident that the Pelicans keep this up after a 117-112 win at Atlanta.
This spot looks tough for the Pelicans at Charlotte tonight. They are at the end of a three-game road trip tonight.
I don’t know if they’re going to pull off the sweep against a hot-shooting Hornets squad. The Hornets are second in the NBA, with 115.1 points per game.
It’s tough to stop the Hornets when they are in a rhythm, and right now that would be the case. The Hornets have put in 124.4 points per game with a 51.1% field goal percentage through their previous five outings.
Remove five games back against Boston, and the Pelicans have netted over 130 points per game. The Pelicans are feeling good right now after a 129-108 win against the Mavericks.
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Trends:
- 1-4 ATS in their previous five games as an underdog
- 2-6 ATS in their previous eight games on a back-to-back
- 2-5 ATS in their previous seven game
- 2-5 ATS in their previous seven games versus a team with a winning record
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a losing home record
- 4-0 ATS in their previous four games
- 4-1-1 ATS in their previous six games on one-day rest
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games after covering the spread
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a losing record
- 4-1 ATS in their previous five games at home
The Hornets are likely going to shoot the Pelicans out of this game. That’s a tough assignment on tired legs. The Hornets aren’t a team you want to see on a back-to-back.
Charlotte has a beatable defense, but I’m not sure that New Orleans will be able to exploit it on a back-to-back tonight. This season, the Pelicans have covered just two of eight games on a back-to-back.
They probably don’t have the ability to run with Charlotte tonight. The Pels are 20th in the NBA with 108.6 points per game and a 45.5% field goal percentage. They’re connecting at a 33.1% clip from three for 27th.
Look for the Hornets to edge ahead and pull away in this one. Expect the Hornets to catch the Pelicans flat-footed for easy points in transition. This should be tough for the Pelicans.
