The New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers are at Crypto.com Arena to get the weekend started on Friday night. The Pelicans are heading into Los Angeles with a record of 33-43 and 15-22 on the road this season.
New Orleans is coming off a 117-107 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. This followed a 116-108 win at home versus the Lakers three days earlier. They failed to cover as a 6-point favorite versus the Spurs prior to that one in a 107-103 loss.

It has been a frustrating year for Pelicans fans. This team can look really good one night and just give it back with two bad games in a row. Ten games below .500, that pretty well reinforces my point.
There has been too much back and forth for the Pelicans instead of digging deep and going on a long successful run. The Pelicans are currently ninth in the Western Conference and a play-in team at the moment.
The Lakers are a game out of the play-in tournament with a record of 31-45. With a 122-109 loss at Utah last night, the Lakers are 11th in the West because the Spurs have a tiebreaker.
The Lakers are two games behind the Pelicans. I’d much rather see the Pelicans or Spurs in the play-in than the Lakers. Give them a chance instead of Russell Westbrook and this underachieving group, which is essentially the 2020-21 Washington Wizards now.

LeBron James tweeted that he is officially out for the rest of the season. Check the date. He is listed as questionable and is going to give this one a go.
Anthony Davis may try to play as well after getting upgraded to questionable on the injury report. AD has not played since February 16. From reports out of LA, it seems like there’s a decent enough chance he does suit up.

Pelicans vs. Lakers Prediction:
The Lakers really don’t deserve to be a playoff team. 14 games below .500 shouldn’t even put them in consideration, but here we are and the Lakers still have life.
They are going to get LeBron James and Anthony Davis back on the floor together soon, possibly tonight.
Chemistry has always been a problem with this team trying to find a fit for Russell Westbrook, but the Lakers are a better unit than their record indicates when they have LeBron and AD.
The Lakers can score at will when they are healthy. Despite a banged up team through the year, the Lakers are in the top-10 with a 46.8% field goal percentage and 111.5 points per game.
It’s the stupid and careless mistakes leading to points on the other end that ruins it for the Lakers. If it were Westbrook injured with a healthy LeBron and AD together, they’d be in better shape.
The defense has been more successful at home, with an average of 112.8 points per game opposed to more than 115 points conceded on the road. The presence of AD around the rim would help tonight.

After three straight games and seven of their last eight games on the road, the Lakers are finally home where they’ve been much more comfortable at Crypto.com Arena.
Spectacular they are not, but they’ve shown a bit of pride playing in front of their fans. The Lakers are an abysmal 11-27 on the road, though a respectable 20-18 at home.
It should be better, but at least they’re doing something. They played the 76ers tough in a 126-121 loss the last time they were at home on March 23. This started a four-game skid.
Back home coming off another bad loss last night, there should be motivation to show up and get back into a postseason position tonight. It’s especially good news if AD makes his return tonight.
The Pelicans have struggled to consistently score on the road this season. They’ve put in just 106.6 points per game and a 44.6% field goal percentage. It could be a nice set up for the Lakers to win tonight.
