New York continues on the second game of it’s six-game road trip after the Knicks dominated Houston, 122-97, last night at Toyota Center. The road back-to-back is always a tough assignment and especially in different time zones and the Knicks are 5-2 with no rest this season.
New York currently sits at the 4-seed in the East as the Knicks are 1.5 games up on the Hawks and Heat. They have won 11 of their last 12 games with the lone loss coming to the Suns last week.
Memphis sits at the 8-seed in the West as the Grizzlies are at 0.5 games ahead of the Warriors after losing three of their last four games.
The Knicks took a 133-129 overtime win over Memphis in New York on April 9, but Memphis holds a 24-23 all-time lead in this competitive series.

An 8-0 Knicks run midway through the third quarter gave New York an 81-64 lead and for all practical purposes, put the game out of reach. Derrick Rose was 8-of-11 from the floor with 24 points and R.J. Barrett tallied 21.
Cole Anthony hit a buzzer beater to lift Orlando over Memphis, 112-111 on Saturday as the Grizzlies and Magic split the home-and-home. Advantage, New York:
The Knicks are percolating at the right time with their hottest streak of the year. Now, they need to use this as a springboard into a playoff run. Randle should be getting tons of support for the league’s MVP. He has continued to play at a consistent high level as coach Tom Thibodeau talked last night about his comfort level against the double teams and as well vs. zone defenses. He has averaged 30.8 points and 8.3 rebounds over his last five contests as he also has made 4.4 threes per game in that run.
Key Knicks Stat:
Barrett has been consistent along side Randle as he has netted 20.2 points and 7.2 boards over his last five. He shot 32 percent from distance last season and has upped that to 39 percent this year. He feeds into the consistency of the New York three-point game and Reggie Bullock on the opposite wing as he has 24-of-49 triples in his last six outings.
New York continues to lead the league in defense as opponents 44.3 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from three, 38 made field goals and 104.6 points per game are league lows. They continue to clamp the three with regularity as opponents have made 49-of-142 triple in the last four games.
Ja Morant against the pairing of Elfrid Payton and Immanuel Quickley on the point is one to watch. Morant has struggled from the field in his last three games in making only 14-of-41 field goals which has been a big reason for the 21-point loss at Portland and then the Grizzlies losing the 20-point lead in the loss to Orlando. It’s a reminder of how no matter how great any of these players may be, they’re all human and they go through peaks and valleys of a season just as the teams do. Morant puts up 19.3 points per game and 7.3 assists and could be ready to break out in a big way this evening.
Key Grizzlies Stat:
Kyle Anderson has been a key reason that the Grizzlies continue to surf inside the sea of the play-in game structure as his 77 threes are a career-high so far this season. His length on defense is also a huge part of his game as his 5.9 boards per game is also a career high thus far.
The Grizzlies’ offense had an epic month in April as it averaged 117 points per game, which was their second highest offensive scoring average for a month in team history. Much of that figure was due to a fast break offense that outscored opponents 256-103 over the last 10 games.
Winner: Memphis (-3) 113, New York 109
