Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz Pick – NBA April 6, 2022

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz have a Wednesday night meeting at Vivint Arena. Utah narrowly edged out the Memphis Grizzlies last night in an important game for the Jazz.

It was a meaningless game for the Grizzlies, as they’re set with the second seed in the Western Conference. The Jazz were cold as ice going into last night. They had lost six of their last previous games and coming off a 111-107 loss at Golden State.

Utah needed something to go their way, and they got it versus the Grizzlies. It’s a good win for the Jazz, as they pulled one out in overtime by a score of 121-115.

The Jazz were up comfortably in the 4th, by 7-8 points throughout the final frame. However, a strong push from the Grizzlies in the final minutes forced an extra session in overtime.

It’s the kind of win that might kick start something for the Jazz. With the victory, the Jazz clinches a spot in the playoffs and don’t have to concern themselves with the play-in.

Utah enters tonight at 47-32 and the fifth-best record in the Western Conference. They are attempting to hold off the Nuggets for the fifth seed in the West; currently, they have a half-game lead going into tonight.

The Thunder haven’t had anything to play for in a long time, but are at least trying recently. They recorded one of their best wins of the season two games back against the Phoenix Suns.

OKC were the aggressors and torched the Suns for a 117-96 win. Last night, the Thunder followed up with a 98-94 win over the Trail Blazers.

Can they catch the Jazz napping after clinching last night in overtime? Head below for our free Thunder vs. Jazz prediction on April 6, 2022.

Thunder vs. Jazz Prediction:

The Jazz are in after a rocky stretch recently. It was close against a Grizzlies team with nothing to play for last night. In any event, beating the Grizzlies is a big deal these days, and it may provide the Jazz with some confidence.

Utah has scored 113 points and allowed 114 points per game in their last five attempts. While the Jazz put in 125 points in overtime last night, the only defense as of late that the Jazz have beat up is the useless Lakers.

Overall, the Jazz are seventh in the NBA with an average of 113.5 points per game. They are shooting 47.1% from the field for a solid mark. However, their defense has given up too much as opposed to last season.

The Jazz were a top-3 defensive unit last season, but they’re 10th with 108 points against per game going into tonight. With a 45.4% field goal percentage against, this is 10th in the NBA as well.

OKC Thunder vs. Utah Jazz Betting Trends:

  • 21-6 ATS in their previous 27 games on the road
  • 8-2 ATS in their previous ten games as an underdog
  • 13-3 ATS in their previous 16 games versus a team with a winning home record
  • 12-3 ATS in their previous 15 games versus the Jazz
  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games at Utah
  • 1-6-1 ATS in their previous eight games on a back-to-back
  • 2-7 ATS in their previous nine games after a win
  • 3-7 ATS in their previous ten games on a Wednesday
  • 3-8-1 ATS in their previous 12 games versus a team with a losing record
  • 0-5-1 ATS in their previous six games as a betting favorite

The Thunder don’t do a lot of things right, but they’re putting up a fight as of late despite nothing to play for in the final stretch.

Beating the Suns and then avoiding a letdown was impressive for the Thunder.OKC had to overcome a double-digit deficit in the second half to pass the Blazers for a 98-94 victory.

Their defense has held up reasonably enough, with 111.1 points against per game and a 45.5% field goal percentage for 11th. They’re a sliver behind the Jazz in that regard.

Beyond stats or trends, I’m looking at how motivated the Jazz have to be tonight. They’re coming off a big win at home over the Grizzlies to clinch. How serious are the Jazz going to treat the Thunder?

I’m not too confident in the Jazz getting up tonight. That should be enough to give the Thunder a chance to keep this final score within 15 points. Just like the Rockets yesterday, this point spread is inflated.
