Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks Pick – NBA October 24, 2021

The Orlando Magic are at Madison Square Garden for a meeting against the New York Knicks on Sunday night. This is a home and home after the Knicks cleared the Magic easily by a score of 121-96. That was a good win for a Knicks team that had seven scorers getting into the double digits.

Julius Randle was 3 assists off from a triple-double, as he put in 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Randle has changed the trajectory of this franchise in a big way. Since adding Randle to the fold in 2019, the Knicks have steadily been adding firepower to this roster. I think they’re really being undervalued in the Eastern Conference this year.

The Knicks have made great additions with Evan Fournier, Kemba Walker, and Derrick Rose. They traded for Fournier from the rebuilding Magic last year. The Magic were shopping their talent in a firesale last year. They recognized that this wasn’t going to work and they had to sell for the future.

Orlando finished with a record of 21-51 for 14th in the Eastern Conference. Only the Detroit Pistons with 20 wins were worse than the Magic. As part of their rebuilding process, they drafted Jalen Suggs with the fifth overall pick after the Raptors went with Scottie Barnes. Barnes has looked great so far, while Suggs has been fine.

The Magic enter tonight with a mark of 0-2 following a 123-97 loss against the Spurs to open the season, and then 121-96 in their home opener against this Knicks team. They really need Suggs to develop into a go-to guard if the Magic are going to get going. He’s supposed to be the foundation.

The Knicks are off to a perfect 2-0 start after a 138-134 win over the Knicks in overtime, and the victory against the Magic in Florida on Friday. Their elite defense didn’t show up against the Celtics, but easy work versus the Magic. Will it happen again on Sunday? Head below for our free Magic vs. Knicks pick on October 24, 2021.

Magic vs. Knicks Prediction:

For as much as people like to talk about the Knicks’ defense, it has been their offense showing up big so far. The Knicks allowed 104.7 points per game for the best in the NBA.

The pieces that led the Knicks to the top defense in the league are still in place. They need more consistency offensively to become a contender. In comes Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose.

The Knicks have been hot with 129.5 points per game through two outings. They had two overtimes to help boost that number up, but they needed just two quarters to score 121 points on the Magic.

I don’t know if the Knicks need that much offense to beat the Magic this evening. Their offense news time to generate some chemistry, and I can’t see that happening at Madison Square Garden tonight.

Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks Betting Trends:

  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games after a loss
  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games as an underdog on the road
  • 0-5 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a winning record
  • 1-6 ATS in their previous seven games on a day rest
  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games after losing by double digits

  • 5-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a win percentage below 40%
  • 23-6 ATS in their previous 29 games versus a team with a losing record
  • 22-8 ATS in their previous 30 games as a favorite
  • 14-6-2 ATS in their previous 22 games on a Sunday

The Magic were miserable offensively with just 104 points scored per game last year. That was dead last in the NBA. I can’t see too much changing for the Magic, at least not yet.

They are depending on Jalen Suggs to be their savior on offense. It’s likely not going to happen that quickly, and probably not against the Knicks at home tonight.

The Magic have been one of the worst teams in the league defensively. They are 30th with a field goal percentage against of 50% and 122 points against per game.

I think the Magic can show more than we saw in their first meeting on Friday, but the Knicks should be able to pull away for a comfortable lead in the 4th quarter. Look for a 117-101 win for the home team at Madison Square Garden to cover.
