We notched an easy NBA winner last night as the Warriors took control in the fourth quarter to beat the Bulls in Chicago. The win was the Warriors twelfth in a row, and perhaps most interestingly, it came on a night when MVP candidate Steph Curry didn’t play particularly well. Steph had just 19 points on 5 of 14 shooting, but Draymond Green picked up the slack with 31 points, 7 boards and 4 assists.
That’s been the Warriors mantra of late, forget “hand down, man down” it’s become “man down? No problem.” Mareesse Speights had two 30-point games this week on nights the Warriors needed a boost (including a career high). Five players average double figure points on this team and three of them aren’t Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala – both very good players, and David Lee who has missed nearly the entire season with injury.
It’s pretty impressive what Steve Kerr is doing out in the Bay and it will be fun to see if the Warriors truly have taken the leap to championship favorite…
Let’s try to stack on another winner tonight with today’s free pick.

Today’ Free Pick:
New Orleans Pelicans -2.5 at Los Angeles Lakers (Total: 210)
The pelicans are on the road for the backside of a back to back, which is never a great thing. But their loss last night was to the Clippers so no travel required tonight and they lost convincingly enough that Anthony Davis got an early hook.
Like most young teams that are still figuring things out, the Pels have struggled away from home. They are just 3-8 outside of NOLA, and 8-10 ATS overall, perhaps because the public faith in AD accidentally translates into unwarranted faith in New Orleans. However, the Lakers are just bad everywhere, home or road. They are 5-15 overall and just 2-8 wearing home colors in Staples Center. Of their five wins, all but the Houston win came against the East; the JV of the NBA. Tonight they host a varsity team, albeit a young one, and I expect the pelicans to fare well tonight even on the road. Heck, Laker fans might even cheer AD as dreams of another vaunted big man via free agency dance prematurely in their heads…
The Lakers have lost five in a row, nine of ten overall and every single home game against the West this season. Despite the fact they played last night, everything points to the much more talented Pelicans tonight.
