Philadelphia 76ers vs. Golden State Warriors Pick – NBA November 24, 2021

The Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors meet at the Chase Center on Wednesday night in the Bay Area. The 76ers are coming off a 102-94 win in the fourth of a five-game road trip against the Sacramento Kings.

It was a solid effort from the 76ers following a 118-111 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers. They were also good against the Denver Nuggets last Thursday by a score of 103-98.

In any event, the Sixers are just trying to stay afloat while they await the return of Joel Embiid. There is a chance that Embiid makes a return against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Saturday.

He’s still in Covid-19 protocol, so is still going to be absent for the next two games at least. In his absence, the 76ers can win, but they’re a mediocre team that will have their bad moments.

For the Sixers to win without Embiid, it’s imperative that Tyrese Maxey shows up big. The Toronto Raptors wanted Maxey for Kyle Lowry last year for good reason.

Maxey is coming off 24 points and 4 assists in the win over the Kings. Andre Drummond went wild on the boards with 23 rebounds to give the 76ers a big boost. He isn’t a scorer like Embiid, but can be a contributor if he continues to rebound like that.

The Warriors are a major NBA Finals contender, as they go into tonight with only two losses on their resume. After losing their second against the Charlotte Hornets last Sunday, the Warriors have won four straight outings.

In their most recent win, Golden State pulled away from the Raptors for a 119-104 victory. It was a nice return home after they survived at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit for a 105-102 win without Steph Curry on a back-to-back.

76ers vs. Warriors Prediction:

The Warriors have been shooting teams out of the gym this season. Their offensive stroke has been unmatched by teams this season. Stephen Curry is obviously a big reason for that, but Golden State is getting production from elsewhere as well.

Andrew Wiggins has put in an average of 19.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He’s coming off a big performance against his hometown team, as Wiggins scored 32 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three.

Wiggins scored 27 against the Pistons, carrying the Dubs without Curry, and then 32 versus the Raptors. He doesn’t get too much respect, but he’s better than a lot of people will let on. His presence has been necessary without Klay Thompson on the floor.

Golden State is first in the NBA with 114.2 points per game, and they are shooting 47.5% from the field for second-best in the league. Andre Drummond had his way against the Kings, but it’s likely not going to happen in the Bay Area.

The Warriors have been crashing the boards on both ends of the floor, as they’re second in offensive and third in defensive rebounding. With the Warriors, you get outside shooting, but the most underrated aspect of this team is their ability around the rim. Embiid’s absence will be evident tonight.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Trends:

  • 5-1-1 ATS in their previous seven games after a win
  • 7-3-1 ATS in their previous 11 games on the road
  • 2-5-1 ATS in their previous eight games
  • 2-6-1 ATS in their previous nine games versus a team with a winning percentage better than 60%
  • 4-9-2 ATS in their previous 15 games as an underdog

  • 13-3-1 ATS in their previous 17 games after covering the spread
  • 20-5-1 ATS in their previous 26 games
  • 10-1 ATS in their previous 11 games versus a team with a winning road record
  • 15-5-1 ATS in their previous 26 games as a favorite
  • 8-2 ATS in their previous ten games on a Wednesday

The 76ers will have to keep up from the outside in this one. I just don’t know if Maxey is going to be able to go blow for blow with Curry, though. The Sixers are 14th in the NBA with 107.7 points per game.

They are fourth with a field goal percentage of 46.7%, but a large reason for that is Embiid scoring high-percentage buckets around the rim.

In their last five outings, the 76ers shot 44.4% from the field. Conversely, the Warriors were shooting 47.9% from the field in their last five attempts.

The Warriors have been tough at home, as they’ve outlasted their opponents easily on both sides of the floor. They have scored 116.7 points per game and allowing 100.3 points per game at home this season.

This one should be competitive in the first-half, but the fatigue of a lengthy road trip should wear down on them in the second. I like the Warriors by a score of 115-98 at home to win and cover tonight.
