The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks engage in a marquee matchup at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.
The Knicks are looking for a better performance after struggling mightily against the Orlando Magic. It was not an effort that many people expected from the Knicks.
They were dropped at home by an upset-minded Magic squad. Orlando came to NYC and took advantage of a team that didn’t take them seriously.
Orlando upset the Knicks with a 110-104 win behind a big performance from Cole Anthony. Terrence Ross chipped in with 22 points from the field as well.

That was a performance to forget for the Knicks. They had a serious talent advantage on the Magic, but the final score didn’t show that.
Could it have been a lookahead spot to the 76ers? It’s possible, as the Knicks might be looking to prove something Tuesday night.
The Knicks opened the year with a 138-134 OT win and 121-96 over the Magic in Orlando. That was a home and home against the Magic, and I think they thought it was going to be another easy trip.
That was likely a wake up call for the Knicks. If they show up in the same form tonight, yeah, the 76ers are going to punch them in the mouth.
The 76ers are off to a 2-1 start with two wins in three games. They took a 114-109 loss versus the Brooklyn Nets on October 22, and responded with a 115-103 win over the OKC Thunder on Tuesday.
Joel Embiid is questionable to play at Madison Square Garden tonight. Embiid was questionable against the Thunder with an ankle injury and he still played, so I wouldn’t be concerned if you are looking at the Sixers. Head below for our free 76ers vs. Knicks pick on October 26, 2021.

76ers vs. Knicks Prediction:
The New York Knicks have a good looking roster featuring Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, and Evan Fournier. Fournier did absolutely nothing last game against the Magic.
He took the game off and was rewarded with only 8 points. With Fournier and the rest of this team focused, they can beat some of the best in the NBA.
On a good night they can anyway. The Knicks led the NBA defensively last year. They just missed the extra gear defensively to put them over the top.
Hence, the Knicks trading for Fournier at the trade deadline, and adding Derrick Rose in the offseason. Rose is far from the player he was in the past, but he’s a good spark plug off the bench.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks Betting Trends:

- 0-4-1 ATS in their previous five games as an underdog
- 1-4 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a winning record
- 1-4 ATS in their previous five games after a win by more than 10 points
- 21-10 ATS in their previous 13 games
- 15-6 ATS in their previous 21 games as a favorite at home

The Knicks’ defense has been limiting opponents from the field, just like they did last year. They’re fourth in the NBA with a field goal percentage against of 40.6%.
However, allowing 113.3 points per game for 19th in the league. Not terrible, but they are not getting calls from the officials right now.
Offensively they have been one of the best with 118.3 points scored per game for third in the league. The Sixers have lagged behind in that regard with 113.7 points scored per game, though second from the field at 48.5%.
The 76ers have thoroughly dominated this series. Going back to 2018 they’ve won ten straight games. That being said, I like the Knicks off this loss against the Magic. It can’t get any worse than that effort.
Expect the Knicks to come out with much more energy for this one. They should be motivated to knock off the Sixers with the best roster they’ve had against them in a while. I like the Knicks in a 113-107 kind of finish.
