We snapped our two-game winning streak last night with a result, that while a loser, wasn’t terribly stunning. You KNOW, if you dare to bet against the Warriors, that a game like last night is possible – the game where they draft off the pace car for a few laps before unleashing a lightning whip-around and take a close game to blowout-city in the span of mere minutes.
Such was the case last night. I wasn’t at all surprised when the Thunder were close for more of the first half. I wasn’t surprised when Steph went apocalyptic from distance and blew the doors off the poor Thunder in the third quarter. I also wasn’t surprised that the Thunder became befuddled offensively and started bricking the shots they did manage to take when not turning the ball over. Things tend to snowball quickly when in the midst of a furious Warriors surge.
I got seduced by the huge pile of points coupled with the Thunder’s unprecedented three game road playoff win streak – arguably the most impressive three straight road wins in NBA history given the two team combined home marks – and I paid for it.
We will try to revert back to our winning way this evening as the Raptors try to get up for Game Two in Cleveland.

Today’s Free Pick:
Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers -12
I had a number in my head for tonight’s game midway through the second half of Game One, and wondered if Vegas would be daring (or desperate) enough to reach it. They nearly did. I thought, ‘if they take this thing past 15, you HAVE to take the points, right? I mean, FIFTEEN??”
Funny thing though – no matter the number, it is HARD to bet Toronto tonight. If laying 13 is too extreme for you, I understand. It’s a crazy number for two teams separated by just a single game over an 82-game season. But without Valencunias, and the WAY the Cavs are playing this postseason, I just don’t see tonight being competitive. LeBron got 24 points in the opener and only took 13 shots. He played with the speed governor on and trusted his teammates to win the game. And they trusted each other – something that HAS to be encouraging for Cavs fans. The shared the basketball, and unlike the first two rounds, won a game easily without relying on statistically-improbable outside shooting. They made just seven three pointers on twenty attempts – low on both numbers (a well as percentage). They instead beat the Raptors every whichway by simply playing BETTER basketball in every facet of the game.
This series is a total mismatch. I think it is another game where you can turn the channel by the early second half and go watch something else.
Look for the Cavs to once again roll.
Free Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers -12 (many have it at 12.5, betonline is 12 right now)
