Golden State certainly has a flare for the dramatic. JUST when we were ready to bury them; the record talk, the “greatest team ever” nonsense, heck, could they even beat the Spurs and MAKE the Finals? They pull us right back in. Last night’s win AT San Antonio was big time for so, so many reasons. First, the obvious; they are now tied with MJ’s Bulls at 72 wins, needing only a home win over depleted Memphis in the final game of the season to become immortal. Secondly, they are now 3-1 against the Spurs head-up this season and both teams tried in all four games. Two of their four wins came by double digits and last night’s was by a comfortable six. And MOST importantly, that win was IN San Antonio against the full-strength Spurs team who was bidding to become the first team in NBA history to run the table for an entire season at home.
Good stuff Dubs. Really good stuff.
So, with that put to bed, can we please start the Playoffs now?
There are a few games of some importance the next three nights, but many of these games are going to be dogs – so be real careful looking at lineups before wagering. This may be a nice three day period to keep it conservative and instead start gearing up the bankroll for a nice playoff run this weekend.

Today’s Free Pick:
Houston Rockets -3.5 at Minnesota Timberwolves
I know – my disdain for the Rockets has been well documented. But they are still REALLY in the playoff hunt. If they win tonight, as they are favored to do, and Utah loses to Dallas, which is very possible – the Rockets and Jazz are tied with one monumental game to be played (for the right to get sent packing in four by the Dubs, but hey, let’s live in the here and now).
And I don’t think they’ll get the win they need. Minnesota has already shown us what a young, scrappy spoiler who is playing hard down the stretch is capable of accomplishing in the NBA. They have dynamic talent in Wiggins and Towns and plenty of other firepower, all eager to get some stats and try to ruin a few other teams’ dreams before heading to a crucial offseason.
Houston is staggering down the stretch. With the exception of the nice win over the Thunder two weekends ago on ABC, they are winless in their last five road games. They are just 2-4 ATS in their last six and have really shown the tendency to simply wilt, like in the embarrassing home loss to Phoenix when they had SO MUCH to play for… Minnesota hasn’t been beating a lot of teams, but they are 4-1 ATS in their last five against Houston and I think they’ll really relish the role of spoiler tonight. This is their one chance to “be a part” of the postseason and I think they will come out hungrier and faster than the Rockets.
It’s more of a “feeling” pick like the Phoenix pick last week, but I just don’t think Houston CARES enough at this point in a dismal season. I’ll take the Pups at home.
