Damian Lillard went out of his mind for the second time this season against the Warriors (without Steph) and once again led them to a commanding double-digit victory. The shots that he and his teammates were hitting last night can only fairly be described as “insane” in what was a very entertaining and fun to watch basketball game.
Of course, I was on the Warriors last night, so I enjoyed it slightly less than I would have otherwise… But we will try to make it up today and see if we can cap off the weekend with a Mother’s Day winner.

Today’s Free Pick:
San Antonio Spurs -1 at Oklahoma City Thunder
Is it fair to say today might be the biggest game in franchise history? For a team that has played in several pivotal Western Conference Finals games, as well as appeared in the NBA Finals three years ago, it might seem a little over-dramatic, but I will stand by my claim that this is at least one of the most PIVOTAL games in Thunder franchise history.
Hear me out. If the Thunder DO lose today, they go down 3-1 in the series with a trip to San Antonio up next, and even though the Thunder DID win Game Two there, the Spurs have only lost two games there the entire season counting that postseason loss. So a loss today likely resigns the Thunder to a 4-1 gentleman’s sweep and an offseason of trying to convince Kevin Durant that this is the place for him to stay. To stay put after five years of frustration and the gap between them and the top of the West OBVIOUSLY growing, giving a 4-1 exit in Round Two. Add in the fact the Spurs are reportedly interested in Durant and have some roster flexibility with Timmy and Manu on their way out (immediately or at least soon) and two young stud pieces in place in LA and Kawhi.
So, it is fair to say, that if the Thunder lose today, the franchise as we know it will forever be changed.
That’s a lot on the plate of these players today, and I think it feeds some desperation but also tightens em up a little bit. And the Spurs, as I have written from jump street, are just the better team.
San Antonio won Game Three without playing their best game. I think they play at least as well today and put this series all but to bed. Aldridge is playing on another planet right now, and the Spurs just have so many more weapons than the Thunder. Better defense, better depth, better coaching; just BETTER.
I’ll eat the point on the road today and back the Spurs to take a commanding lead.
