Phoenix Suns (17-29) at Milwaukee Bucks (23-22)
Last night was one of the more surprising losses we have taken this season. We backed the San Antonio Spurs, at home, against the Indiana Pacers. It wasn’t all that shocking that the Pacers were able to cover the -6-point spread. What was shocking though was that they were able to win the game outright, 94-86. The Spurs entered the game with the best home record in the NBA at 19-2 and just didn’t show up.
To lose to a mediocre at best Pacers team at home has some people in San Antonio worried about what a future without Kawhi Leonard really looks like. Stay tuned to see if this is a trend we need to take advantage of or just a one time slip up for the Spurs. I feel like it is the latter as they are just too well coached to play so poorly at home, but you never know in the NBA so we will monitor this moving forward. Today I will take a look at the matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Phoenix Suns will continue their road trip when they travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks Monday night. The Suns are struggling at the moment, losers of five out of their last seven games. The Bucks have hung around the .500 mark most of the season and need to start making a push for the playoffs now if they don’t want to be on the outside looking in when the postseason begins. The Bucks are -5-point home favorites. The game total over-under is set at 213 points. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM PST from the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Phoenix Suns have some talent on this roster. Devin Booker is one of the best young players in the league. Booker averages 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on the season. Booker missed a stretch of games in December, and the Suns looked completely lost without him.
Rookie Josh Jackson has looked good in small spurts, and I think he will eventually grow into an impact player in the league. The rest of the Sun’s lineup is full of guys you remember playing with on the NBA Live video game a decade ago. Tyson Chandler, Jared Dudley, Greg Monroe, this team has plenty of veteran leadership, they just don’t have the young legs to keep up this year.
The Suns did pick up a nice win in their last game at Denver. It was the first road win of the new year for the Suns as they had previously dropped games to Portland, San Antonio, and Denver. Are the Suns good enough to win two straight games on the road tonight when they match up with the Greek Freak on his home court?
I’m glad that Giannis Antetokounmpo is finally getting his fair share of the spotlight this season. The Greek Freak has been just that, a freak, over the course of his five-year NBA career. Antetokounmpo leads this team in points, rebounds, and assists. He is second on the team in steals and blocks. He fills up a stat sheet unlike any other player in the NBA.
Unfortunately, it is a bit of a one-man show in Milwaukee this year. They have some other decent pieces in Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton, but if Giannis has an off game, these guys can’t win. You can see the inconsistency in their record as they are just one game above .500 at 23-22. Right now, the Bucks occupy the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference and really need to turn things up as Detroit, and the Knicks, are hot on their trail.
The Phoenix Suns versus the Milwaukee Bucks, or should I say Devon Booker versus Giannis Antetokounmpo? This is basically a one-man show versus a one-man show tonight. And my money? It’s going on Giannis.
This line opened up at Bucks -4-points and quickly shifted to Bucks -4.5 and now -5. I am not sure if people are betting against the Suns or with the Bucks, but either way, this line is moving quickly. I like it as it currently stands at -5 but if it moves much more, I would stay away.
The Bucks are the better team, and they are playing at home, but the Suns are a decent road team, better than they are at home actually, and I could see this line getting a little out of control. If you like it, take it now, if it gets to -6 or more I would stay away.
Give me the Milwaukee Bucks at home -5-points tonight!
