The Pacers got us back on the winning track yesterday with an easy win in LA over the Clippers (and on a night when the Lakers WON too – nice work at HOME Washington Wizards….yikes!). if you got in early in the morning, the Pacers were getting a few points. Once Chris Paul was officially scratched, the line swung the opposite way, but was still no problem as the Pacers covered easily anyhow.
It’s always nice to get a win. It’s even nicer to get 20 of them in a row. The Warriors cruised in Charlotte last night, a potentially tricky stop, and blew out the Warriors. They are off tonight before a back-to-back in Toronto and Brooklyn. Escape those two games and they will be 22-0 when they head to the other hottest team in the NBA, Indiana, Tuesday night. Assuming the Warriors hold form, that game should be incredible…
Let’s see if we can ignite a winning streak of our own in the meantime…

Today’s Free Pick:
Oklahoma City Thunder -3 at Miami Heat
Something’s gotta give tonight. The league’s number two offense heads down to South Beach to take on the league’s number two defense. OKC is fresh off a 106-100 defeat in Atlanta, despite a valliant effort. They are now 0-5 when they fail to surpass 100 points, something I am sure Coach Spo and his Heat squad has been made well aware. The Heat are allowing just 96.3 points per contest and are 9-1 when holding teams under that mark.
They failed to hold Boston under that mark in their last outing, losing 105-95, and despite the solid 10-6 start, there were some unhappy Heat players (Chris Bosh) after that performance. I expect them to be more focused defensively this evening, especially in a marquee game at home.
Miami is 8-3 at home this season and Oklahoma City is just 3-4 away from home. Add in the fact that the Heat are getting points and it becomes a really good value play. I think they win this game tonight, but am happy to have a three-point buffer in case I need it. The Heat have everyone healthy and have been off since Thursday, meaning you should see one of the NBA’s better starting lineups fully intact tonight. OKC is finally healthy as well, and Durant and Westbrook have been a potent combo against the Heat, winning three of their last four meetings. But this Heat team is better than last year’s and I expect them to play well tonight at home and on national television.
Before Monday’s wake-up call loss to Boston, Miami had won seven of nine. They are healthy and rested – two things that will always be a concern for Miami all season long. When they can check both of those boxes, they are pretty tough to beat at home.
