What a historic and monumental night in America! I am, of course, talking about the Kings comfortable win over the visiting Pelicans…
Tongue-in-cheek opening aside, in all seriousness, I LOVE sports. It is so much better than politics and I can prove it. Last night ran our season record to 12-3 ATS and NO ONE can vote against THAT baby! DeMarcus Cousins and crew handled their business at home as yet another ATS winner was aided by the fading of the road team on the dreaded back-end of a back-to-back. It may stink for the players, and frankly, doesn’t seem to be in the best interest of the sport to schedule in this fashion, but as a greedier handicapper, I hope it never changes. FREE MONEY.
Elsewhere, the last unbeaten team in the NBA fell last night as the Hawks notched an impressive win in Cleveland. I wouldn’t read much into it on the Cleveland side other than just an off-night for the Champs, but the play the last three games from Dennis Schroeder has been All-Star level (in the East anyway) and Dwight Howard appears to be happy, healthy, and once again a BEAST on the glass. The Hawks are pretty good right now and a team worth watching the next few weeks to see if they can remain a true top tier team.
We are still at 80% ATS on the season and riding yet another four-game winning streak. Let’s keep stacking tonight.

Today’s Free Pick:
Minnesota Timberwolves at Orlando Magic -3
The most disappointing team in the NBA so far this season heads on the road on the backend of a back to back to take on a rested team that has won three of their last four games including home wins over Washington and Sacramento. Minnesota is 0-4 on the road this season and now they play on short rest. This is a schedule loss, yet again, and oddly enough, you only have to lay three points to back to Magic.
SO that is exactly what I’m doing tonight. Sure, Orlando isn’t a great team. In fact, I still think they could end up being a top five Lottery pick by the end of the season if Serge Ibaka is as diminished on defense as he has appeared thus far and Vucavic is only going to score 12 points a night. But until Minnesota shows me something, I’d consider fading them on the road pretty routinely.
And again – back-end of a back-to-back. It’s kryptonite even for good teams.
I’d write more about this game, but the numbers and analytics don’t really matter to me with the early season unassailable success of the no-rest/rested matchup with the road team in the rest deficit.
Lay the three. Take the Magic.
