Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks Pick – NBA March 24, 2022

The Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks are scheduled to meet at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Thursday night. The Bucks are going to be shorthanded in this one, as Giannis will be unavailable.

He is not expected to suit up while there are other injury concerns in the lineup for the Bucks. Khris Middleton is OUT with a wrist injury, so those are two big pieces that won’t be there for the Bucks tonight.

He missed the blowout against the Chicago Bulls, 126-98, but Giannis didn’t miss that game. Giannis was unstoppable in the paint, which is to be expected. He hauled in 17 rebounds and scored 25 points in the easy win.

This matchup versus the Wizards is going to be all Jrue Holiday. Let’s see how Holiday operates without Giannis on the floor. It’s a favorable matchup versus the Wizards, but this isn’t the same Milwaukee team minus Giannis.

They’re a good team, but it’s clear that they miss him when he isn’t active. The Bucks are going into tonight with a record of 45-27 in a three-way tie for the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

The 76ers, Bucks, and Celtics are all a game and a half behind the Miami Heat for the lead in the East. This thing is going to be wide-open in the playoffs.

I wish I could tell you a strong lean to get out of the East, but it’s such a crapshoot. The Bucks will need a healthy Giannis, that I do know. Head below for our free Wizards vs. Bucks prediction on March 24, 2022.

Wizards vs. Bucks Prediction:

The Bucks have the stats advantage over the Wizards in this one. However, it’s not the most accurate barometer for success with Giannis off the floor.

That’s not the only problem that the Bucks have to deal with. Khris Middleton plays a big role for the Bucks as well. Middleton has posted 20.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.

There should be a lot of pressure on Jrue Holiday to carry the weight for the Bucks tonight. Holiday is a great player, but when you’re on a team with Giannis, everything opens up for a guy like Holiday.

The Bucks are the second-best team in the NBA with 115.1 points per game and 11th with a 46.6% field goal percentage. They are fourth from three, which again, is a reflection of a big man like Giannis running the floor to spread things out.

If the Bucks need to clean anything to repeat as champs in 2022, it’s going to be their defense. They’re losing their assignments too often, which has led to teams finding easy points.

Milwaukee is 16th in the league with 111.1 points against per game. They’ve gotten shelled for 119 points a game on 46.1% shooting through their last five.

In their last ten outings, seven teams have scored at least 115 points versus the Bucks. That doesn’t look like a championship defense. With Giannis OUT, the Bucks might allow Kristaps Porzingis to get free.

Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks Betting Trends:

  • 1-4 ATS in their previous five games after a loss
  • 3-7 ATS in their previous ten games
  • 6-13 ATS in their previous 19 games as an underdog
  • 5-0-1 ATS in their previous six games versus the Eastern Conference
  • 3-0-1 ATS in their previous four games on a Thursday
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games at home
  • 7-2 ATS in their previous nine games
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games after a win
  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games as a betting favorite
  • 1-4 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a winning percentage on the road worse than 40%

The Wizards are coming off a lifeless performance versus the Rockets in Houston. They were dropped in a 115-97 final at the Toyota Center in Houston after a 127-119 win over the LA Lakers.

Washington had no focus after recording a big win over the Lakers. It was their best performance in over two weeks and they looked empty versus the Rockets.

That was a winnable matchup the Wizards did not get up for. Following that effort, expect better from the Wizards on Thursday night.

They have a nice opportunity to pull off an upset with Giannis and Middleton both OUT. Surprisingly, the Wizards have been efficient from the field with a 46.8% field goal percentage.

Bradley Beal’s injury hurts, but he is shooting 45.1% from the field, so the team’s success rate in this respect isn’t on him. The Wizards’ defense has been on par with the Bucks, having allowed 111.6 points per game.

This looks like too many points tonight in Milwaukee. I’m not excited about laying this many points on the Bucks with two of their stars sitting. Off a shoddy performance in Houston, look for a better effort from the Wizards.
