The NBA is set up with a great night of action on Tuesday night. Six games are up on the board throughout March 23. One of these matchups will be between the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks. These two teams have been solid throughout this season and will look to earn a big win in this one. This game will tip off at around 7:30 PM Eastern time.
The Wizards have started out this season with a record of 15-26, which has them sitting in thirteenth place of the Eastern Conference. Washington is only four games out of a playoff spot entering this one. The Wizards are coming off a loss and have lost six of their last seven. Washington will look to turn it around in this one.
New York has put up a record of 21-22 to this point in the season, which has them sitting in seventh place of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks are only one game back from jumping to the fifth place spot. New York is coming off a loss in their last game and have lost three of their last four. The Knicks will look to get going quickly on Tuesday night.
These two teams have had opposite starts to the season, but I expect a good game in this one. The Knicks are currently sitting in a playoff spot, while Washington is trying to climb back in. I expect the Wizards to try and set the pace quickly in this one as they look for a win. If either team can step up early, it could be enough to grab a much needed win in this one.
The Wizards and the Knicks met up four times throughout last season. Washington won the first game of the season series 121-115. The Knicks bounced back with a 107-100 win in the second game on December 28. The Wizards were able to bounce back with a win in the third and fourth game of the season series to win three of their four games against New York.
The first game of this season’s series was hosted by Washington on February 12. Russell Westbrook dropped 23 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds. It was not enough for the Wizards though. Julius Randle scored 24 points and 18 rebounds on the night. Immanuel Quickley and Derrick Rose combined for 30 points off the bench as the Knicks earned a 109-91 win in this one.
New York was able to earn a win in the first game of this season’s series, while the Wizards dominated the season series last season. The Knicks used their depth to their advantage in the last game, but Washington was without Bradley Beal. The Wizards will look to step up in this one as they try to knock off New York on Tuesday night.
Field Goal Shooting
Washington has been solid shooting the ball throughout this season so far. The Wizards have drained 46.5 percent of their shots from the field, which is 15th in the NBA. Washington has also made 34.4 percent of their shots from behind the arc, which is 27th in the league. The Wizards are shooting 76.7 percent of their shots from the charity stripe, which is 20th in the NBA.
The Knicks have been around middle of the league shooting the ball as well this season. New York has made around 45.3 percent of their shots from the field, which is 22nd in the league. The Knicks have shot 37.4 percent from deep, which is 11th in the NBA. New York has sunk 76.6 percent of their shots from the free throw line, which is 21st in the league.
The Wizards have been better from the field this season, but New York has shot better from behind the three point line. The Knicks have been better on defense though this season. New York has held opposing teams to a 44.2 percent from the field, which is 1st in the NBA. Washington has been able to hold their opponents to a 47.6 percent from the field, which is 27th in the league.
Bradley Beal has been the best player on offense for the Wizards throughout this season. Beal is averaging 32 points per game. Russell Westbrook has averaged 22 points, 9.5 rebounds and 10 assists per game this season. Rui Hachimura is averaging 13.5 points per game throughout this season to help round out the lineup.
Julius Randle has been the leader for this New York team so far this season. Randle has averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds per game. R.J. Barrett is averaging 17.5 points per game. Immanuel Quickley, Elfrid Payton, Derrick Rose and Alec Burks are all averaging 12.5 points per game throughout this season to help round out the depth on the Knicks.
Washington will be without Thomas Bryant and Davis Bertans in this one, which hurts them. The Knicks could be without Elfrid Payton and Derrick Rose. Immanuel Quickley is probable to return to this matchup. These two teams will look for their depth to help step up in this one. If New York’s depth can come out strong, they should be able to knock off a shorthanded Wizards team.
New York was able to win the first game of this season series earlier in the season and they will look to go up 2-0 on Tuesday night. Washington has struggled with their depth being injured as of late, but I think that Westbrook and Beal can lead them to a win in this one. Beal will look to help be the difference that was missing in the first meeting of the season series.
BetOnline has New York listed as a -135 against the money line in this one. This implies that the Knicks will win this game around 57.5 percent of the time. I think that this line is a little big for a team that has also been a bit inconsistent this season. Washington is looking to break out of this tough stretch and I think that this is the game they can do it.
