Sunday features a matchup between two teams going in different directions. First you take the 49ers that were predicted by many to win the division and even go to the Super Bowl. Through the first two weeks of this season they haven’t looked much like a playoff team. They got blown out by the Seahawks week one and even though they lost on a last second field goal on Monday Night, they still had way too many turnovers and you aren’t going to win many games if you can’t take care of the ball. The Chiefs on the other hand are rolling right now, their coaching staff really has them believing and players are buying into the system. They are a very young, but competitive team that has gotten off to a great start thus far and hope to continue their strong showing in front of their home crowd at Arrowhead. Game starts Sunday at 1:00 PM EST
San Francisco needs a win desperately here. They are 0-2 and have hopes of winning their division. This is a must win, with that said it won’t be easy, the Chiefs are feeling great about where they are and the direction in which they are going. The 49ers do have a shot here though, they have got a great defense which has somewhat underachieved thus far, Frank Gore is one of the best running backs in the league when healthy, however Alex Smith is the ultimate wild card on this team and this team will go as far as he takes them. This team is dangerous and will make a run, but being in a 0-3 hole will be hard to climb out of. With Patrick Willis at MLB as the leader of the defense, one can only believe they will start dominating very soon. As for Alex Smith if he can play at the level he did during his final drive against the Saints, this team will be in the playoffs, but at this point that’s a big If.
The Chiefs are playing very well so far and it would be a big boost of confidence if they could get a win this week. The 2-0 Chiefs are rolling, they are getting great play out of their defense. The 3-4 has been a success so far this year and I don’t think anyone could argue with the results, Glenn Dorsey has been playing tremendously and LB Derrick Johnson is finally playing up to potential. If Matt Cassel along with the rest of the Offense can move the ball on this stingy defense, they may have a shot to pull off the upset. Keep a big eye on Jamaal Charles here, he will be the big difference maker for the Chiefs if he can get it going in this game, there is a chance KC pulls off another great win at home.

49ers vs Chiefs Prediction for Week Three Betting:
Spread Prediction (Top Play): Despite the fact that Kansas City is 3-0 against the spread versus SAN FRANCISCO since 1992, I prefer the 49ers here. I think the 49ers are the better team and have more talent right now than the Chiefs. This win will do a lot more for the 49ers, they need this. The Chiefs offense can be very stagnant at times and Matt Cassel hasn’t proved he can put up many points. Based on the 49ers defense I have to believe the 49ers will take this one.
Game Total Prediction: The game total is a little low for me and considering 2 of 3 games in this series have gone since 1992 have gone over, the smart play here would be the over. I like both defenses, but I think that 20-17 is a realistic score here. The 49ers are capable of scoring on offense, defense, and special teams. While I do believe the Chiefs may struggle early, they can strike quick on special teams with dynamic return man Dexter McCluster. On Offense RB Jamaal Charles is capable of breaking a run for a long touchdown anytime he has the ball in his hands. I like the Over here.
