Auburn vs Alabama Spread Line and Predictions Week 13

The Auburn Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the penultimate game of the Auburn season. This year’s “Iron Bowl” takes on even more meaning than usual: Auburn is undefeated and THIS close to a perfect season. But, like any good rivalry, the Tide will be all out to ruin Auburn’s dream season. The game, unlike any other of the many this weekend, has a touch of controversy to it. Auburn’s dream season has come in large part to the outstanding play of quarterback Cam Newton. But, rumors and allegations surround his eligibility. His path to Auburn has been highly talked about. Will it affect him or his Auburn teammates in the biggest game of their lives?

The Auburn Tigers have been outstanding. Buoyed by one of the top offenses in the country, they have steamrolled through most of their schedule. The Tiger offensive attack is 3rd nationally in rushing, 5th in points scored and 6th in yardage. And while it’s been a mighty fine display for the Tiger fans, there is no doubting how important this game is. But, they’ll be going up against an outstanding Alabama defense. The Tide are 3rd nationally in points and 7th in yardage against. It’s an outstanding unit and they’ll certainly be up against a mighty good offense. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton (3300+ yards, 38 TDs) is a threat with his arm and his leg. If Auburn is to win this game, it is simply unstoppable without a good game from Newton.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off of a national championship. With that, expectations are a certainty to be high, especially at a school like Alabama with the powerful tradition. But, the Tide haven’t had the kind of season they thought. The reigning champs are 9-2 this year and have melted at critical points in their two defeats. If they are to win this one, they’ll need to contain Newton (no one can stop him) and get something going from an offensive attack that features a pair of star running backs. Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson are all-conference caliber picks and they couldn’t be any different. Ingram can bang between the tackles and has deceptive speed while Richardson is the typical lightning back. Quick, elusive and with a huge amount of speed. If the Crimson Tide are to get a crucial victory out of this, they’ll need big contributions from Ingram, Richardson and a dominating (at most times) defense.

Auburn vs. Alabama Betting Predictions:

Spread Prediction (Top Play) –There isn’t any mistaking that this has been a dream season for Auburn. The defense has been good and the offense has been out of this world. But, the task seems too tall here. Alabama has a defense that is good enough to slow them down and a running game that should make decent room and take pressure of quarterback Greg McElroy when he drops back to throw. The dream season should come to an end.

Spread Prediction (Top Pick) = Alabama -4

Game Total Prediction – People don’t talk about the Auburn defense as much because the offense is so powerful. Or, they choose not to talk about the Auburn pass defense which ranks 100th in the country. But, that rush defense is mighty fine: 11th nationally. Even with their suspect pass defense, Alabama shouldn’t be expected to make huge plays through the air. With their favor to run—like Auburn— the clock should be moving at quick enough pace. For Alabama, the Under is 7-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. For Auburn, the Under is 12-3-2 in their last 17 as a road underdog between 3.5 and 10 points. We’ll go with that.

Prediction: Under 59
