Cardinals Falcons Spread, Line and Predictions Week 2

This Sunday features a great match-up between the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons. This game is being played at the Georgia Dome at 1:00 PM. This match-up will be an interesting test for both teams. Arizona will be trying to go 2-0 on the season despite quarterbacking problems in the offseason. They will also be looking to prove that they are the real deal as they have only barely beat the lowly Rams. Atlanta is looking to not go 0-2 on the season and will be playing their first game at home this season. The Cardinals vs Falcons Predictions, Spread and Betting Odds below!

The Cardinals are coming into Atlanta having scraped out a win in St. Louis. Derek Anderson made his debut at QB for the Cardinals. He looked good at times and bad at times but he did enough for the win. Steve Breaston had 7 receptions for 132 yards and Larry Fitzgerald caught the game-winning touchdown pass. The Cards running game was decent with Hightower and Stephens-Howling combining for over 100 yards. Ken Whisenhunt has said that Beanie Wells will be a game time decision for this week against the Falcons. This week will be a tougher test for the Cardinals on the road. They will need to execute their offense better than they did against St. Louis if they want to win this game. The key for the Cards in this game will be the performance of Derek Anderson. He has more than capable receivers so it’s just a question if he can deliver the ball accurately. If he can do that they have a chance in this game, but if not, I don’t think their running game is powerful enough to take over a game.

The Falcons are coming off a tough loss in Pittsburgh where they could not even score a touchdown. Something noticeably wrong with the Flacons was their lack of run game. Michael Turner had 42 yards on 19 carries. He was completely shut down despite getting enough carries. Whether this was credit to Pittsburgh’s defense or a decline in Turner’s ability, we will see on Sunday. The good news for the Flacons is that there are welcoming back their DE Jonathan Babineaux back to their defensive line. He was suspended for one game stemming from an arrest for marijuana possession last year. He is a valuable part of the defense for the Falcons and will sure up the run defense which was questionable last week, letting up the game winning touchdown in overtime. The key for the Falcons in this game is whether their secondary can handle Breaston and Fitzgerald. If they can frustrate the Cards receiving corps then they can force turnovers against them and win this game easily.

Cardinals vs Falcons Predictions for Betting Week 2:

Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – The Falcons come in to this game without a touchdown yet on the year. Arizona only put up 17 points on one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Both of their games ended in the under last week. In fact, Atlanta’s last 7 games have been in the under. I think that this game will follow these trends. Arizona will be facing a tougher defense and although the Falcons will put up more points this game will still be fairly low-scoring. TOP PLAY PREDICTION – UNDER 43

Spread Prediction – This week is the Falcons home opener and that will provide a much needed boost to their team. They are also 8-0 in their last 8 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game. I don’t think that Arizona will be able to stand up to the pressure of the Atlanta crowd and they will under-perform. I am taking the Dirty Birds to win against the spread. PREDICTION – FALCONS -6.5
